Huh.  So it looks like I can't go snowboarding today because of...snow.

(The mountain itself would be fine, but I can't get to it.  It's snowing heavily and there are high winds and poor visibility. I got around 20 yards down the main road before I turned around and came back.  Not worth dying over!
Keep an eye on me. I shimmer on horizons.

Bleh, the weather's been beyond gross all day so plans have to be postponed for some other weekend, it seems... Iceland is awesome in that it's easy to find great photoshoot locations, but annoying in that the weather is rarely good for that this time of the year. On the upside the Reynir cosplay is now fully updated with new coins, new ankle strap things and I'm currently re-curling the wig (it looks kind of funny, I should probably take a photo).

Laufey and Urbicande: it's a pity your weekend plans have been derailed by weather. This snowstorm in America sounds quite nasty! Here it's cool, down to 24C, so much nicer. I'm getting in extra firewood, because yesterday I noticed that about half the deciduous trees in my area have suddenly started to show autumn colours. Which is crazy, because it's the middle of summer. Early and sudden leafturn here is generally an indicator for a hard winter ahead.

We've had 2ml of rain, which is a tiny amount, though a great deal better than nothing. It's also crazy though, because ten miles away they had flooding, and a bit over thirty miles south there was heavy flooding, with one person killed and another injured by lightning. We got a dry storm here, and that little bit of rain after it. Not complaining though, it's the most rain we've had since September last year.

I actually LIKE snow, don't get me wrong. I just can't drive safely enough on these roads to get to the ski area!

On the other hand, it's pretty here, and I've got plenty of wine and firewood and I brought my radio with me so I've got plenty to do.

I lost my umbrellaaaaaa. (It looks most likely that I forgot it at the market and someone took it with them...)

On the upside - sort of, it's a tragedy that I don't own them and I'm going out of my mind trying to keep myself from buying them on a horrible whim - look at these beautiful cards!!

Now that we're supposed to be getting more than 2ft/61 cm of snow, my sister has (unknowingly, since she doesn't read the comic...) brought out her inner Emil.

S: We can use a welding torch to clear the snow!
me: ....that won't work, we need something to burn. And there's way too much snow.
S: We need a flamethrower.
[beat]
S: Or we can just spray hairspray all over the snow, and then use the torch.

We actually do have a blowtorch specifically for melting ice, but for snow the problem is it just refreezes almost instantly and coats the driveway with black ice...  :P
