Frequently Asked Questions

Forum Positions

  • What do all these rank color squares mean?

    • As you have probably guessed, regular users’ names are black at most places, and they have yellow squares.
    • People with green names and squares are content moderators, or Skalds
    • People in blue are the moderators, or Valkyries
    • And last but not least, red is the color of the admins
  • What do the rank titles mean?

General users’ titles are based on post count:

    • Super-Newbie - less than 1 post
    • Newbie - 1-100 posts
    • Safe-Zone Citizen - 100-250 posts
    • Scout - 250-500 posts
    • Ranger - 500-1000 posts
    • Ruler of a Derelict Airport - 1000-2500 posts
    • Admiral of a Sunken Ship - 2500-5000 posts
    • Conqueror of an Abandoned City - 5000-7500 posts
    • Elder of the Ruined Realm - 7500-10,000 posts
    • Wanderer of Lost Worlds - 10,000+ posts

And then there are forum staff positions:

    • Skald - content moderator
    • Valkyrie - global moderator
    • Administrator - administrator
    • Retired Admin - creator of the board

Titles other than these (Slayer of Silence, Ilmarinen, Hel, Saraswati) are personal titles for admins

  • How do I become part of the staff?

The staff is recruited from active users of the board when there is a need for a new one. They are chosen by the existing staff and, unless there is a special circumstance, will join the rank of skalds first. Moderators and Admins are bound to be over 18 for legal reasons.

Boards

Posting

  • Why are single word posts not allowed?

The format of an internet forum is mainly intended for sharing opinions about topics in longer form, and not real-time(-ish) 1-3 word chatter, so posts such as “Okay.”, “Wow.”, or “:D” are strongly discouraged. If expressing yourself via chatting is more like your cup of tea, feel free to join our SSSS IRC chatroom!

  • Are there topics that are not allowed to be discussed?

Anything illegal, also please be sensitive of the fact that we are an international community with many different backgrounds and opinions. You are allowed to discuss religion or politics as long as it doesn’t devolve into flamewars. If that happens, you can expect mods to swoop in and apply the cleanse cycle as many times as needed. In-depth political discussion or debate should be kept to the Politics Board.

  • Can I upload attachments onto the forum?

No, forum attachments have been disabled to conserve storage space on the server.

  • What does PG-13 mean?

PG-13 is the MPAA rating Minna uses for SSSS to clarify that it may not be suitable for younger audiences. You know, because horribly aberrated trolls and the like.

Reporting

Images

  • My drawing contains blood / scary stuff / other sensitive material. Can I still post it?

The general rule of thumb is: As long as the sensitive material is within what the canon SSSS comic has portrayed/contained, you can post it freely. If you went a little over that, put it inside a spoiler or behind a link, and provide a warning.

  • My drawing shows skin, can I still post it?

Yes, as long as there is no sexual content; nudity in the context of something like bathing or a sauna scene is OK. And if there is nudity or implied nudity, please use a spoiler.

  • Is there a limit to picture size?

Yes, if the image you want to post has a size exceeding 10MB, please put it behind a link or spoiler, to make life of people with a slow and/or limited internet connection a bit easier. Pictures larger than 700px wide will automatically be resized by the forum.
