The US has it also but it's called Veteran's Day there

Sort of. It's the same idea, but it's not the same thing, if you know what I mean.

Yeah. There are some differences.

I can never remember if it's supposed to be Memorial day or Veterans day :P
It's partially because in my synesthesic head Remembrance day has a colour more similar to Memorial day so I thought they were the same for a long time. The colour of Veterans day is very different.

I don't know? I think it's a lot less prominent here than other places if we do that thing at all... ww1 didn't seem to have the same impact on norway as ww2 did.
I think it's for like, all the wars maybe. But the date come from WW1.
@Origami Remembrance Day is a Commonwealth-only thing, if I remember correctly.

Haaaaaa, I'm late for the microwave stories, yay!

But I can share a blender story! Once upon a time, I was trying to make a really nice meal to surprise my mom when she returned from work, so I tried a new sauce recipe. I threw everything in the blender and it worked pretty nicely, given that it was my first time using a blender by myself... But just when my mom arrived, and I was proudly finishing the sauce, so pleased with myself, I pulled the blender from the wrong side and spilled sauce all over the counter, the floor, the blender and myself.
My mom wasn't very happy.

I had a friend whose mom had jaw surgery and couldn't eat food for a few months. She had to drink all her food, and so one day they put a quiche in the blender for her.

When I had a bad case of metal mouth, a.k.a. "braces," my orthodontist would tighten them to the point that my food got chopped in the blender.  In retrospect, I probably should *not* have loudly referred to the man as "Monkey Wrench Henry, the Smiling Pirate," at least not in his own waiting room.

My parents call the dermatologist "Dr. Digg", because he has a certain... fondness for removing potentially suspicious blemishes with a scalpel.

We called my orthodontist "Dr Vlad" after the second time the end of the wire came loose and stabbed the inside of my cheek  :P

Reading these and remembering my brothers' history with dentists, I'm very happy I've never had braces.

One of my dentists was disconcertingly named Dirk. He was Dutch and an impersonator of the host from Swedish Mealtime (meaning he had a large bushy beard). First time I met him he pulled four of my teeth without any ado.

My first mental image of your dentist was Trond. ???

My parents took me out to a burger place the day I got my braces on. That was... poorly thought out.
