One of my preteen boy students just saw a small fly, screeched, and jumped on the table... I am not sure how I should have reacted to this... :o

Try to keep a straight face and remember your students are probably all city folk, and not familiar with even tiny wildlife. And don't laugh, preteen boys have fragile egos.

Microwave stories huh

Would anyone like to play a game of "guess what this was supposed to be pre-microwave"?

Spoiler: answer • show

Microwave steamer and rice
(belonging to one of my friends. I can actually claim no responsibility for this monstrosity. It was supposed to be microwavable however.....)

In all fairness, I can see why insects would freak out someone who lived in Japan, although table jumping thing is new ??? It reminds me of the kind of reactions you get in cartoons actually :3

Yeah, it was the table jumping that took me aback. If he had just yelled and swatted, I would not have been surprised at all. But this was a high-pitched screech and a table jump. I didn't think people really did that...

I'll help you with fortifications if I get to keep the ballistae when we're done :D
I'm willing to loan out some chess-playing cookie dough to help with strategies - plus we can all just munch on it once the battle's over  ;)
Well, you have my support purely because of that reference.

But I can make things explode in a normal oven I guess? Baked potatoes, cakes and once a chicken... ok the cleaning up of that last one is a mildly traumatic memory...

Today's last minute art rush: I just finger-painted part of my Serious Fine Arts portrait because I didn't feel like washing my brushes after only using them for a minute or two. My fingers will probably have traces of orange paint of them for the rest of the night.

What does one do with a humongous napkin collection?

Tomorrow we have a huge parade and ceremony for remembering people who died in wwi. The prime minister and governor general are going to be there, in addition to lots of mounted police and tv people and soldiers and other people watching. Some friends and I are going, so I will be away for most of the day tomorrow, but I hope to get some good pictures and stories to tell everyone.

Do you guys do Remembrance Day? We usually do the thing where there's a minute silence and stuff at 11.11am on 11/11, but the napkin sounds aweSOMMME :O

uhhh i was kind of half asleep so I didn't... really... catch the specifics... it think it might've been macedonian (in comparison to greek)?

I don't know? I think it's a lot less prominent here than other places if we do that thing at all... ww1 didn't seem to have the same impact on norway as ww2 did.

No work tomorrow on account of statutory holiday... I'm going to get so much writing done. Incredibly happy about this. : D

@Origami Remembrance Day is a Commonwealth-only thing, if I remember correctly.

The US has it also but it's called Veteran's Day there
