Actually, it looks vile to me as well, but that never stopped me. I eat cheese whether it's mouldy, smelly, a dubious color or all at the same time. I eat even cheese that I *know* has gone bad, just out of curiosity. I only draw the line at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casu_marzu . I've never had the pleasure of experiencing it irl, but it is the most epic cheese I know of and I will forever spread the word. (How can people not know about Camembert? It's one of the most vanilla and common cheeses out there. And yes, stinky yet delicious describes it well.)
