Same here.
Perhaps a photo tour, to be posted on the internet by a relative for whom the computer behaves properly. What an informative website that would be! The first thing I'd look for would be the Donate button....

Speaking of January, I was supposed to get like five inches of snow last night (that's like winter Armageddon here don't laugh) and I wake up to less than an inch. >:( Was not amused.

I have never been more confused in my life. I went to plug in my drawing tablet to use, and the light just flickered. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and no light at all. So I check the battery and it's not there. There is no battery. It has been removed. I did not do this. How. Why.

What kind of battery (batteries?), would they fit into some other (someone else's) device, what kind of lid's over them, when's the last time they positively were in place, or would the weight difference alone be noticeable?

(Sort of gambling on a "hey, the TV remote stopped working, who's currently not at home so that we can borrow from his stuff" scenario here ...)

Well after a day of tablet research (I did not buy it for myself, it was a gift), I found this particular tablet does not come with a battery. You can buy one to use it wirelessly, but otherwise no battery. So basically it's broken, and I feel less confused but more dumb.

Battery gnomes. Only explanation.

Try leaving some AAAs around the place to distract them.

I currently prefer this explanation though.
