I seem to remember that Icelandic horses, once they left Iceland, are not allowed back onto the island, ever. Maybe announcing that you'll send them Shetland ponies is akin to threatening that you'll ruin the bloodline forever ... ?

No horses or ponies of any kind are allowed to enter Iceland, that's why even Icelandic horses that travel abroad cannot be brought back. Usually the procedure is that if an Icelandic horse is taken out of the country there's already a buyer waiting for it elsewhere.

So what would happen if someone were to ship Swedes to Iceland, and declare them to be Shetland ponies? "Lieutenant Ólafur, take action"?

(What would happen if one were to smuggle a puppet of a clearly non-Icelandic horse into the Alþingishúsið? Would it be better at eradicating the current government than its distant kin in Troja was? :P )

I think they'd just... be pointed to some area so inhospitable Icelanders don't want to live there and be told to settle in (and then the place would prolly be named Smáhestabær or something) just like with the Americans when they came in.

Corvus Corax - Ballade de Mercy

Mixed feelings about this band - they don't always click with me - but man, do they ever have some good tracks. And props to them to trying to reconstruct the atmosphere of medieval secular music; it's not exactly easy.

This morning calls for comfortable and cozy music. Something like this, maybe: Sleeping at Last - I'll Keep You Safe

More Sleeping at Last. This one's instrumental, though. And beautiful.

I recently re-found a band I used to listen to a lot years ago, so obviously I have to share some favourites. They take a LOT of influence from traditional Finnish music, to a point where I could almost count them as just... continuing the tradition. Almost.

Just because iTunes chose it randomly this morning.

It would be too long and I fear way too personal to explain why and how much I love this song <3 So, I will just say I have it in my playlist for the novel I'm writing this month, and this random choice was a little magic :)

Oh, Värttinä are awesome.  (And they had a new release in early October!)

I've been mainlining Katzenjammer today

A nice example of a song that was too good for Eurovision:

I liked it a lot in 2008, and I still like it now. Too bad none of their other songs are just as good.

Laufey Thanks for posting that band... their stuff is so good! I'll have to investigate further.

I'm just going to dump more Sleeping at Last here: Woodwork. I bought the entire album last night (Atlas: Year One) and I am totally digging it. As for this song, it will probably end up on a fan playlist... I think. Depending on how things shake out (having trouble deciding....)
