pfffffff i will never get over how gender-confused people are over scandinavian names. not that i think names need to be gendered, so maybe I'm wrong - I've just known a lot of malins

Balin, Dwalin; Ring any smol, bearded, axe-wielding bells? ???  Anyhoo, all fixed! :D

Gender confusion by J.R.R. Tolkien

Besides, it's not like there were Malins aforethought. 8)

It's really odd, most non Scandinavian people think Malin is a male name, and I just don't see it! Seems pretty feminine to me, but maybe not. I'm just used to it I guess.

I'm at IKEA for operation "update my room so that it doesn't look like a 12 year old lives here anymore" and I'm munching on Swedish Meatballs.

Today is going to be a good day  ^-^

I guess where you come from and what you're used to makes it like that. I mean, it shouldn't be any less feminine than the name, say, "Helen". on the other hand, a certain Lars has apprently been mistaken for female several times in the comment section - mostly because of the Sigrun avatar, but still
you'll know where to find me.

You nailed it--it's what one is used to.  Before this, I think "Gro" was the least-English name I'd encountered.  I understand "Signe" is a bit uncommon even by Norwegian standards, but the ending registers as feminine to me (or it did--sorry, Ådne).  The rest of the family females were mostly Marthas, Marians, Marias, Miriams, and Aurora (for variety, I think). ;)  None of them unknown to English.

The more I learn, the less I know.

Anyone experiencing snow yet this season? It's one of the things I miss the most about living in Norway. Like, that really nice thick snow that isn't wet when you touch it, but all fluffy. I might just say this though because I don't get to see snow often anymore, a lot of snow can get annoying!

Experienced it - yes, up in the highlands. But there's no snow where I live right now. In fact it's been remarkably warm and dry lately. I think we'll get the good old shock therapy this year.
