You nailed it--it's what one is used to. Before this, I think "Gro" was the least-English name I'd encountered. I understand "Signe" is a bit uncommon even by Norwegian standards, but the ending registers as feminine to me (or it did--sorry,
Ådne). The rest of the family females were mostly Marthas, Marians, Marias, Miriams, and Aurora (for variety, I think).
None of them unknown to English.
