Can you have an off-topic post here?
Of course! Just post something on the topic of being off-topic ... which you just did. Presto!
Meanwhile in Iceland: someone has stolen 60 small birch trees ranging from size 1-1,5m tall. Who's going to need that many and for what purpose I wonder... are they just going to plant them in their own backyard and hope no one notices that 60 small trees just appeared out of nowhere, is there a black market for tiny birches, does someone just hate trees in general or what?
Assuming that those trees had been there for a longer while (there are
smaller ones nearby, after all), the thief dug the extra mile to remove them complete with the larger part of their roots, so he
did intend them to get planted again someplace else. I'ld expect that to be a
very backed-away "backyard", though.
Ah, time to get ready to export some of the anti-Christmas-tree-theft technology we have ...
How do you steal 1000 tonnes of anything without someone noticing?
- Quick and with a substantial number of getaway trucks
- Over a long time and well-hidden (a.k.a. "the tunnel-and-pipeline heist")
- You fake the bookkeeping entries as well
- You target someone who has millions of tons of whatever
- You have the owner deliver it to you and somehow deceive him about the payment part
- ...
it's not like you'd be able to convince my 7 year old self of that. I took identifying as cool creatures very seriously
That's a sorta
dangerous path for your descendants-to-be you were traveling there ...
