It's almost as if the habitual use of binary gender pronouns fosters a dependence on the constraints of presumptive gender assignment as a necessary precondition to social contact.

Almost!

I never have a problem with it until I have to actually say something out loud about someone in the third person. Stupid English gender-specific pronouns! Why do you make it so hard for me?

And I may or may not have mistaken a guy for a girl in real life. In front of a bunch of people. In my defense it was 5th grade and there isn't too much distinguishing prepubescent girls and boys from one another...

For me, I'm usually easily (and accurately) read as female but I did have one strange occasion of a person mistaking me for a crossdressing male while cosplaying Belarus

Mmm, I assumed you were male at first. Mostly bcause I thought the actual Laufey was a male figure too I guess.

When I saw your sketch of yourself, I thought, "Oh, he has long hair... probably some kind of computer person."

Or a rock star.

Noodly, the very first comment exchange with you I somehow had cemented in my mind that you were male.

haa I was convinced that you were female for the LONGEST time. Which may have something to do with (mostly) giving up guessing genders (it's not like it matters or anything, I just wanna categorise all the things).

Also, my male friend and I were both on a school trip a while ago. He has shoulder-length, curly hair and is fairly slender. The flight-attendant-guy comes up behind him and is like "would you like some soda, miss?" and the kid turns around and just looks at him. The flight-attendant blushed BRIGHT red. It was kind of hilarious.

Wasn't Laufey female? I thought she was Loki's mother or something.

LOL well in reality Laufey was Loki's mother. :D He's one of those rare ones who have a matronymic instead of a patronymic. Aside of that Laufey also means "leaf island" (= a kenning for a tree) and is a rather ordinary girl's name in Iceland.

Plot twist: Loki's parents were called Laufey. Both of them.

Yes, but I had this picture in my head of a bearded jester guy who I thought was Laufey. Apparently that was Loki himself though.

For me it's gotten so bad that when some users have their avatar as an image from the comic, I'll think it's them for a second when I re-read it.

eg "Kicknrun" has caught me out twice now...

Haha! (I am nothing like Emil, so this cracks me up)

"Forum members as their avatars" needs to be a whole new art thread.
Hum. Maybe I should change before someone else told me it's... what was it, creepy ? ^^

And in an other subject : dear body, please be kind enough to let me finish my first lesson after two weeks I wasn't able to do anything with my partners at sport. I'm a little fed up with that. Thanks.

Sunflower probably has blackmail material on everyone, I think. (myself included)
