I can take or leave London as a city, but it contains several things I miss sorely, most notably my youngest daughter (works for the BBC, could be anywhere in the world but is based in London), one of my grandsons (works at the British Museum), the Museum itself, and the Library. Sigh.

I feel the same way about Los Angeles.  It's less than the sum of its parts...but I do love some of its parts.

PSA for those who are Europe-based and have a problem with Hivemill's shipping fees: It seems that those online shops that are now selling the French vol1 have mostly also put some English vol2 in their stock (e.g., here, here, and here).

I checked all three of them, and they all seem to actually be for pre-ordering the future French translation of the second book. But still, they all say they'll have it on February 1st 2019, that's soon.

In the series "composers cannot hide anything from Hrollo".

Listen to the first 10 seconds of that track:
/>
(It's the main theme of the soundtrack of a 1980 supernatural horror film called "Inferno")

Ok? Now listen to the first 12 seconds of this track:
/>
(It is the second-to-last piece of Mussorgsky's suite "Pictures at an Exhibition")

Coincidence? How about this: "Inferno" is part of a trilogy of film about the "Three Mothers", a trio of evil witch-sisters.

This particular piece of Mussorgsky references Baba Yaga, a witch from Russian folklore… which is sometimes depicted as three sisters.

Yep, you've got it. if Mussorgsky were alive today and had a good agent there'd be lawsuits, cease and desist orders, etc, flying all over the place ;D

That's how I feel whenever I open up the khallasar of the iron tiger to hammer out another paragraph or two.

On another note, this is interesting (also slightly relavent to a d&d campaign I'm setting up to gm)

Yep, same.  I parked my New Jersey Y0 fic to make room for InkTober, and don't you know, as soon as I did so I got an idea.  So I sketched out a few paragraphs into a new chapter and then parked it again, and I am so glad I did.  I'm not going to actually use a good deal of it, but it gives me a springboard for continuity.

Today I opened a fic I hasn't worked on for almost a year. And the words just wouldn't. stop. coming. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it in the coming days! I think I finally figured out the ending!
I mean I already had the ending-ending planned, but I hadn't figured out the ending. That doesn't make sense but it's very logical, I promise.

(I got slightly disgusted reading through it before I started writing though but that's just proof of what an awesome writer I am :D otoh I worry that this one will force me to switch the rating for one of my stories from Mature to Explicit. Ratings are hard, because I've read stories worse than this one rated Teen so I'm just confused *flops*)
