We get -40C in February a lot. Today though it hit -26C, which is already pretty cold. It's supposed to get colder this week. According to my weather app this is the coldest it's been here at this time of year for like 30 years. :O (here is Ottawa, Canada btw)

When it gets this cold, we just leave our stuff outside instead of putting it in the freezer. Is cheaper. :P
I'm not kidding, my uncle has an entire balcony dedicated to this.
[has the tumble-dryer in sort of a garden shed out on the terrace, maybe 10ft away from the door to the livingroom]
[imagines taking the freshly washed laundry there and needing a hacksaw to fit a clothesbasked-shaped solid chunk into the drum]

Seriously? I thought that someone does so only in Russia.
Heck, I happily do that with the stuff in the fridge up until the weather goes above +15C.
(Granted, I'm a traveling technician living in hotels too cheap to have minibars or fridges, never mind freezers, and my stash goes through the temporary status of "completely emptied, for lighter travel" at the beginning and end of virtually every weekend.)

Well. After years of saying I'd do it, I finally quit Windows. Today. All in one go. Ubuntu wiped everything off my old drive. (Yes, I knew it would happen and yes, I did have everything already backed up.)

It's... kinda weird. Nice, but it's hard not to look at a Linux system without constantly thinking I should be working.

Woohoo! Linux is great once you get the hang of the command line. Did you switch from Windows 10?

Seriously, there are rats in the plumbing system at work, they managed to get in after renovation work on local pipes. And a mail went out to everone to keep toilets seats Closed When Unoccupied, and flush before you go as well. Because of the rats.

But rats are fantastic insulation!

Right now it's 22 centigrade and quite comfortable... but it is 1:30am! Tomorrow wil be 31 c and Sunday (Christmas with the family) will be 35.  Roast dinner? I don't think so! Maybe just a salad, and perhaps a cold one or two.

As you all should - we are having perfect christmas weather so far. Snow aplenty, but not too cold, and no rain in sight.

At least I'm not alone in the 22C temperature on Christmas... not that I am particularly amused by it. :/
