*shudder*

The fashions of the 70s were so dire.  Really, there's no need for them to come back.

I don't want to be one to pass judgement and I always advocate that people should wear whatever makes them happy and makes them feel good, but I personally don't find most of 70's fashion to be all that aesthetically pleasing either. Plus, I personally just don't see the point of any extra fabric around the ankles mostly because I like to wear boots a lot and don't want to just hide my boots under my pant leg. Skinny jeans are a lovely invention for the avid boot wearer like that.

On a totally unrelated note, I was just thinking about how I've always wanted to visit Mongolia and Russia since like, middle school. And I'm currently right by Mongolia and Russia. But I think it would be a lot easier and cost effective if I visited east Russia. So ah, anyone especially the Russian minnions know of anywhere cool or interesting in eastern Russia to visit ? I guess there's Lake Baikal, but I think that's more central Russia than east Russia ?

There is officially cat hair on everything I own; clothes, books, desks, furniture and knickknacks are a given, but I just found one of the cats in the pantry scent-marking a can of beans. They're now getting to the food even before I have a chance to cook it. Does anyone know of any scents I can use to keep them out of the pantry and off the noodles and the like? There are a lot of essential oils around the house, so if it's something simple I can probably solve this problem within the week with some advice.

First thing is to clean up any catsprayed areas - cats will generally spray in an area where they or other cats have already sprayed. Then mix essential oils (around 20 drops to 500ml water, plus juice of a lemon) in a spray bottle, and spray the mixture in areas where you don't want the cat to spray.

You can use essential oils alone or in combination, depending on what you like and the cat doesn't. Good ones to try are: citronella, lemongrass, lavender, teatree, eucalyptus, basil, orange, peppermint and black pepper oils. Don't use ground pepper or mothballs, as some books suggest - these work but can injure the cat, and naphthalene is poisonous to everything. Respray once a week, or after rain if you are using it outdoors.

Tried it with lemon and boy, did Garcia (the problem kitteh) run like there was a demon in the cupboard when he tried to crawl in it today. Thanks for the advice. I suspect my beans are safe from future scent-marking

I had to walk home the long way today because somebody got shot  :o

Not badly shot. It's not even entirely clear at this point that they were hit with an actual bullet as opposed to a BB or perhaps a small meteorite. But certainly not the kind of thing you expect in my area, or really my city.

Apparently the Tactical Response Group (the branch of the police with the armour and the big guns and the people shouting a lot oh my!) have raided a local house, presumably in search of whoever decided to shoot at a random passer by. Interesting times!

I might get the bus to work this morning  ;D

Musical elements aside, it's actually a distinct possibility. The Coffin Cheaters have their clubhouse just across the railway line. If it's not bikies then it's probably drugs.

Anyway, nothing much else seems to have come of it, and I'm still alive, so that's good :D
