Well, there's the SSSS/aRTD Gift Exchange on Ao3, but personally I would like a forum-specific Secret Santa as well.
I also wouldn't mind a non-AO3 Secret Santa, just because I don't really want to go through the hassle of making an AO3 account to participate.

An email from my property manager

"A VERY LARGE SNAKE IS SUSPECTED TO BE LIVING NEAR THE LETTERBOXES/OFFICE AREA. RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO PLEASE WARN ANY CHILDREN ABOUT THE RISK OF SNAKES, AND TO TAKE CARE WHEN WALKING THROUGH THE COMPLEX."

Oh that's just great.
Eurrg, that's no good! I recommend staying away from snakes.

Oh, man. And I thought one of my neighbors finding a giant millipede in his apartment was bad D: stay safe please !

So long as it isn't a dugite or a mulga brown. Luck, Wyrm.

Eurrg, that's no good! I recommend staying away from snakes.

Thanks!

I guess the issue is that no one knows what kind of snake it may be. It's not completely impossible that it could be something harmless like a python. Come to think of it I don't even know what kind of snakes are native to my area...

OK, turns out there are five snakes native to my area. There's the harmless carpet python, and then there's the Dugite, the King (or Mulga) Brown, the Gwardar and the Tiger Snake, all of which are full to the brim with deadly venom. Yey :o

Mind you, I'm not seriously worried (at least not for myself). I tend to wear Doc Martins and baggy jeans, so any snake is going to have serious problems actually getting through to envenomate me :)

Seeing as there's some interest in it we'll run a forum Secret Santa as well. I'll talk to the other admins about it, but I'm guessing we'll do signups from sometime in the middle of November and then have the prompts be filled out in December itself ^_^ The advent calendar was quite a success last year as well so we'll probably be doing that again if we can get enough signups for it :3

I've grown especially fond of baked fish as of late. There's so many different types of fish with different flavors that can be prepared different ways, and I'm glad you found one that appeals to you :D

it's the same kind of fish I have usually disliked all my life but the chef at the cafeteria at work is some kind of a magician that makes me rethink everything about what I like and dislike. maybe it's fresher ingredients or the way it's cooked or something.

hmm actually, when I think about it the fish is always baked. that's probably it. baked fish is amazing. that and the chef is good at his job.

I definitely thought I hated fish until I ended up trying it in a different way from the usual. Turns out, I love it in soup.

Aaanyway it's Canadian Thanksgiving today. So, happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canucks!~

Is Canadian Thanksgiving different from the American one? In the way you celebrate it that is.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving.

It's mostly the same, though the atmosphere is a bit more understated/low-key than the American one, I think. But it definitely has the "eating lots of food, especially turkey, while trying to ignore your relatives' political discussions" thing going on. xD
And the history behind it is a little bit different from the US version.

Yeah, happy Thanksgiving! We actually had our turkey and stuff yesterday. Also, we have snow for thanksgiving. Weird. What's up with that, Calgary weather? Actually, what's up with Calgary weather in general? :?

Calgary is obviously one of those liminal spaces in which bizarre things happen. Similar to gas stations at 3 AM. Except it's the whole city.
