Yeeah I have a tendency to go and stalk the Users Online list and see what everyone's doing. Mainly to see if anyone is posting anything when I don't have anymore unread topics.

And I'm up really late so:

Happy Fourth of July!

I sometimes check the forum while logged out, and I know someone else who checks it too, so not all of the guests are outsiders...I haven't explored who's looking at what thread though...I"d make a terrible spy.
An innate goofball who wanted to be elegant and composed.  That ain't happening.

I'm not Juniper, but you have to click on the numbers of users/guests online :) Then at your right, you can chose to see everyone, members only or guests only.

and Britain left the EU.
Frankly, I don't consider that a done deed before some representative of the British government plonked the actual formal request on the EU's table. (And maybe not even then; I seem to remember that, while the EU is prevented from stalling an exit by the two-years-after auto-shutdown, the nation in question is allowed to retract the request at any time.)

Happy 4th to everyone here in the US!!!
(Most fireworks are illegal in Colorado, sadly. That doesn't stop us from driving up to Wyoming, buying a stash, hiding them in the car and coming back here.... Shhh! I never said anything! That has never happened!) So... what was I talking about again? Normal, not at all suspicious/illegal things? Good, good.

And on the topic of lurking, I do that sometimes when I'm too lazy to log in. And the Users Online list seems strangely tempting- I didn't know you could do that. Is it creepy if I now want to go check that out?

but at any given time there's about 2-3 times more guests online browsing the forum than registered forumites which I find to be a bit daunting for some reason. So many lurkers . . then again I know sometimes I'll check the forum on my phone without bothering to log in so some of it could be others too lazy to log in but just kinda wanna see what's up.

At any given time 1/2 to 2/3 of the "guests" browsing the forum are "spiders" or search engine bots indexing our site. Mostly Google spiders. (f.ex. right now there are 32 guests on the forum, 22 of which are these spiders) We have a list that shows us how many spider bots and search engines are browsing our site at a time. It's nothing to worry about, it just means we've been googled or linked to something. :)

Also spiders can't browse individual profiles or any of the private sections of the forum.

That's actually kind of neat. A bunch of virtual spiders running around the forum  :P

Thanks, Mélusine!
I . . . had no idea one could do this.

-sneaks off to do it-

Enjoy your newfound creeping powers !

You're not the only one who creeps the online list. ;p I tend to do it when I'm bored. Or if I post something that I think will be especially relevant to a particular person's interest, and want to know when they're looking at it (is that weird? It's probably weird).

A lot of the "guests" are probably bots, though. But I'm sure some of them are also lurkers/logged-out forumites as well.
Nah I wouldn't say that's weird, if anything it's endearing that you want people to see something that'd interest them :3

I am so sorry wow I would probably blow a gasket if anyone I knew IRL found my AO3 account.

Would changing your name do anything or would the link they're spreading around stay the same ?
