Evil? It's one of the kindest effective responses I've ever seen to this type of situation. I've seen people putting dirty dishes in the bathroom or dirt off the floor in people's beds to get similar messages across.
I... did consider doing something like that. But decided it would only over-complicate things, plus you can't really leave dirty dishes on the floor outside of someone's door with two dogs in the house.
Not really. I've been on both ends of this (I normally pull my weight in a household but when the depression gets serious it can interfere), and it's never fun. Just frustrating all around.
I think this is just a case of someone living away from home for the first time who has yet to get it through his head that his mommy is no longer following him around and cleaning up his messes. He's certainly consistent enough about not doing his share that I'd say that's the case.
