Pg 349

Enters The Glare, The Enkindled Bear

The bears hold close to nap,
A twisted wisp nearby wafts.
Darkness robed, anguish wrapped.
Dysphoria, it hovers aloft.

The collector, death reflected.
The bane billows, blotch-ed.
The protectors, the protected.
The watcher o'er the watch-ed.

Jointly in malignant plot,
Or by some dark directive.
Disease of mind, mortal rot,
Defences multi-vectored.

Raises its head to gaze,
Ponders, the mother bear.
Blazes its 'head', in phase,
Enters the eye, bleak despair.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Kade Disperses, Flat Lie Urses

And so day comes to pass
In this make shift nest.
Resting they are en masse,
Yet never laying to rest.

Ursae lying ageless
Against the coming test.
Lull the unliving aegis
For the invisible unblest.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Bear A Rarity, Lalli's Slain, Such Hilarity!

Bear beasts are rare,
Massively varied in form.
The tremendous bears are
Given unique cover terms.

Over a ton of such monikers,
So they will not be depleted.
The uncommon chronicled
Are on the given sheet.

--------------------------------

Pg 352

These Bears Coexist, Add Them To The List

This group of bears three,
Observed by sources reliable.
Should be added duly
To the next list suppliable.

A group moving regarded,
In North-Eastern Saimaa.
Deformed, head long parted,
And the impervious bear ma.

Where the organs should be,
Instead a gaping void.
And a bad case of scabies
With feet and hands destroyed.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Appearing As Common Fowl, Maybe Even An Owl?

In Finnish belief,
When souls go outside,
When an itse leaves,
It requires a guide.

The Finnish soul bird,
Is the sielulintu.
Tasked to shepherd
Sleeping or dead spiritu.

They appear as any species,
But most often as common ones.
Mallards, sparrows or geese,
Swallows, loons or swans.

---------------------------------------

Pg 354

Swan Sielulintus Are Common, But Is the Tuonela Swan One?

To transport souls from and
To the realm of dreams.
With no guiding sielulintu,
They might lost and deceased.

At the end of life, the soul will
Be carried to Tuonela by one.
The dark waters, frozen, tranquil,
Will give eternal accommodation.

Among the guide friends of feathers,
The swan is a common species.
It's unclear, no-one knows whether
Or not The Swan itself is one truly.

So The Group Has The Pit Scooped

The group pretty smug,
Their handiwork underneath.
Pit successfully dug
And base lined with teeth.

Now for the bears to lure
And for the trap to spring.
A violent beast's cure
With an ultimate sting.

On These Not Sold, Found A Good Hole

Seeking low and low
For a suitable depression.
Progress is slow though,
Nothing makes an impression.

The pair wander the streets
And the abandoned courtyards.
The jungle of concrete
Makes excavating pits hard.

Existing tunnels and craters
Lead to effortless escape.
For the bears' termination,
So unacceptably shaped.

While Sigrun rubs her chin
On their fruitless patrol,
The birdy sprite swoops in,
Onni and Mikkel found a good hole!
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Following Swift, What A Nice Lift

Bright birdy beckons to follow her,
Better be a good reason to run.
A glass-roofed elevator lowered,
Excellent size for a bear hole-in-one.

Suitable shape, spaciously sizable,
Just needs lining and remove the top.
Convenient, deep, escape implausible.
"Time" she declares "to set it up!"

Cover Thick And Sharpen Sticks

The glass is shattered,
The beams are cracked,
Sticks and leaves scattered,
And upon the top stacked.

Poles are sharp pointed,
To line on the floor.
For bears to be mounted
And be no obstacle any more.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Forum is rejecting this bit of nonsense, so I'm posting it here instead.

There we were, preparing this hole
A hole in the ground, so big and sort of found it was
There we were, keeping it deep
It was flat at the bottom and the sides were steep

When along, comes this troll in a bowler which he lifted and scratched his heads
Well he looked down the hole, poor demented soul and he said:
Do you mind if I make a suggestion?
doN'T TRaP theRE, TRaP THem eLsEwhEre
THE SPikES are Up heRE WHen THEY ShOULd Be dOwN There
THe SHapE of iT's wronG, It'S muCH tOO Long
AND you Can'T puT tRAp WHERe A TrAp doN'T BeLOnG
I ask, what a liberty eh
Nearly bashed him right in the bowler

Well there was I, stood in me hole
Shoving timber for all I was worth
There was him, standing up there
So grand and official with his nose round his rear

So I gave him a look sort of sideways and I leaned on my rifle and sighed
Well I lit me a fag and having took a drag I replied:
I just couldn't bear, to trap them elsewhere
The spikes are here 'cos I don't want them there
And if you disagree it doesn't bother me
That's the place where the trap's gonna be

Well there we were, discussing this hole
A hole in the ground so big and sort of found it was
Well it's not there now, the ground's all flat
And beneath it is the troll in the bowler hat
And that's that

With apologies to Bernard Cribbins

Whitened water, waiting, whirling,
Perfect pool of perished peoples,
Simple swan does sweep by swiftly,
Graceful guardian glides in glory,
Only Onni, old-heart, outer,
Merest madman, might in magecraft,
Dives he deep in darkened drinkpools,
Seeking sisters, searching silence.

Scary swan-head sinks beside him,
Loud and livid, looks and listens--
Ne'er neglecting nurtured nothings,
Trapping truly taken Tuuri.
Only Onni, old-heart, outer,
Merest madman, might in magecraft,
Speaks of spirits slowly sinking,
Cries of kade's cruel creation.

Balance bought and bird rebounding,
Tuuri taken, task is timely.
Summer's setting sets the signal,
Autumn's aging all allowance.
Two are taken, two returnèd,
Family forfeit; flight is futile.
Old-Heart Onni outsmarts Order,
Hotakkainen has his hope back.

Bird-in-beauty, bones behind her,
Secret soul that saneness succours,
Bound by brother's sacred bargain,
Kept and cradled, kade's catcher.
Wakes and wonders, wanes and waxes,
Sees her sibling sadly silent.
Temper tightens, taking anger,
Pecks her poor protector proudly.

Thanks, Jitter! I'm trying to keep to Kalevala-style verse, eight syllables a line and as much alliteration as I can manage. Hope it keeps working…

I can’t keep track of eight syllables AND alliteration in the same verse in English :) You also have the other important characteristic down: the repetition, i.e. a line is followed by a second line saying more or less the same thing in different words.
