What If It Sprays Onto His Face?!

What if it burns right through
Our flesh into our organs?
What if the acid gets onto
His face, what would he become?

While he contemplates disaster
And the end of his beauty,
They're not leaving any faster,
Still gawking in stupidity.

The monster, acid-burnt,
Starts poking the cracked glass.
Now asserts the big nurse,
Mikkel knows now their tasks.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Adventure 2, Page 244

It spits the acid on the door
And lets it drip down to the floor
If shots are fired or door should melt
Then where would this foul sting be felt?
If acid melts and burns through skin
Then where would it be next let in?
In organs pink or skin that’s placed
All smooth and handsome on my face!

More poetry readings! 4 of my comment section poems plus an original poem I posted in the scriptorium. My favourite reading of this lot is probably page 242.

Wow! As usual I delighted myself on it! Your voice is lovely, and your reading of page 242 is also my favourite. The poem I already liked, so much that I put it in the reminder, but that's the reading where your emotion is more evident. :) Thank you so much for sharing all that!

Curtailed Organism, Failed Vandalism

"Follow my lead."
The medic takes command.
Will we have a read
Of the man's master plan?

Outside, still on the glass,
Pokes and prods with its claws.
The deformed bulging mass,
Seeking structural flaws.

On the buildings' underhangs,
Its pus-filled peers gather.
These globule growths gang
So that their acid slathers.

Failing its penetration,
The glass seemingly too thick.
In weary desperation,
Did it just lob a brick?

I'm so glad you guys liked this new batch of recordings! You really can put a lot more emotion in when you're reading something out loud than you can on paper.

Adventure 2, Page 245

it stands
at the door
and begs -
and still more
hits land
from its long
sharp legs.

is it wrong
to ask
for a meal?
is this
even real?
the past
is a mess.

the bliss
of some flesh
might ease
all this pain
please send
its soft rains
oh please

is it done?
the end
has not come
for months
even years
this face
has no tears

a thunk
its head turns
fast pace
has it earned
its prize?
will relief
please come?

Rerouted In A Ploy, Happy Suited Boy

Distraction thus raised,
Mikkel runs off quietly.
Drawing away the gaze,
So they slip past reliably.

With make-shift protection
Eye-goggles and suits taped.
So even with acid projection,
They can still safely escape.

One looks determined,
One looks overjoyed,
One looks uncertain
At the happy buff boy.

I guess it's relief that
He'll still be recognisable.
They prepare to flee as
Quick, as quiet as is viable.

Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Today I collaborated on a poem with yeethawman, who (as you might know from the introductions) is my irl friend. She's posted it on the comments, I'm posting it here. Writing poems together is really fun, we're planning on doing some more sometime.

Adventure 2, Page 246 (collab with yeethawman)

A ghost slips through the aisles.

White-cloaked with the remnants of times gone by
Cobbled together with hope thin as masking tape.
Wide eyes hide behind sheets of glass

The sands of time trickle,
They whisper of urgency.
Walk now, but walk softly
Hide away from prying eyes
Hide away from shadows

Another ghost stands at the doorway
Despair dripping in yellow-black rivulets down its back
And behind it, a reminder of what it left behind
Of what it can no longer attain -
Behind it is the light
I write poetry sometimes.

Three Men In A Tent, Spearing The Hell Bent

A marquee formation,
With transparent panel.
Spears in combination,
For the strong, silent kill.

Lances raised, pointed outwards,
Advancing, the shuffling outfit.
Protected from acid showers,
They have no fear from the spit.

The three men in a tent,
Prepared to engage in battle.
What will they do in the event
Of screams in a death-rattle?
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Adventure 2, Page 247

The buildings here are older than you all
And stocked with what the desperate left behind
It’s true - you have found peril in these walls
But there are many other things to find

The ones who still remain lurk in the cracks
Their twisted bodies hid from noon-day’s light
Beware, you searchers, of their swift attack
But you can find the tools to win the fight

So hide yourselves beneath a cloak of gold
And arm yourselves with long-abandoned spears
For those who sheltered here in days of old
Would not begrudge the future’s footsteps here

Adventure 2, Page 247 “Two sides of the same coin”

You stop
And you notice
A faint silhouette
Moving towards you
You wonder
Who it is
What it is
Did you know them?
Did they know you?
Who are you?
Metal, glinting, sharp
Danger
Save yourself

You stop and you notice
The figure in front, no longer human
You wonder who they once were
What they could have been
Did you know them before they lost themselves?
Are they still there, grasping onto a last hope
Trying desperately to scream but they cannot
They – it – comes closer and you know that you must act
You point a cold, glinting spear
You fight to save yourself
"you look stressed" "yeah, it's the stress"

Adventure 2, Page 248

What is a shield
But somewhere to hide,
When ghosts of past terrors are pounding outside?

What can you wield
But something that’s sharp,
When trolls all damp-dripping lie low in the dark?

What is concealed
In trolls and in ghosts,
But someone who’s lost all the things they’ve known most?

Mutual Attack, Spike Got Your Back

In a mutual deadly strike,
They simultaneously clash.
Impaling itself on the pike,
Whilst its corrosion splashed.

The farmer man stands tough,
Holding the spike steadfast.
Turning away, sure enough,
When it spat an acid blast.

With a visceral skewer
Is it deep enough to kill?
Will there be one creature fewer,
Or is it coming for them still?
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Adventure 2, Page 248 “It’s not like we’ve got any other ideas”

A bright yellow tarp, a few layers of clothing
And perhaps a few rolls of tape
A glass visor, with metal edges
All bound together with hope and adhesive,
Is all that stands between skin burning acid

A metal spear, hooked at an end
Thrust in the way, a blind defence
A sure strike that was not witnessed
But rather, felt
"you look stressed" "yeah, it's the stress"
