Illness Overtaking, Puss In Boots Quaking

Tuuri tries to purge,
The head voices aching.
In the corner submerged,
Kitty is forsaking.

"Don't be afraid",
It's only her, Tuuri.
She cannot persuade,
Only thoughts are to flee.

With a painful bite,
A leap away and a hiss.
Instinct to take flight,
Forever dismissed.

The ruckus Reynir detects,
Kitty can't be restrained.
Clearly Illness infected,
Soon with worms on the brain...

-----------------------------

Try and Live Again
(based on Try And Love Again by the Eagles)

Well she's out there on her own
Where insanity can find you
Like a circle goes around
You were lost and then you found out
What it all comes down to

One by one
The lonely feelings come
Day by day, they slowly pull away

Oh, the look was in her eyes
The nether voices now have found her
She is running out of time
Even though she says she's fine
Like a spectre, dark surrounds her

Should I stay or go?
I really want to know
Would I lose or win
If I try and live again?
Oh oh oh gonna try and live again
Oh oh oh I'm gonna try and live again
Oh oh oh gonna try and live

Right or wrong, what's done is done
It's only moments that we borrow
But the thoughts will linger on
Of the lady skald foregone
Won't be many more tomorrows

Well, it might take weeks
Even now the shadow speaks
Don't let go
When you have it you will know

Oh oh oh, gonna try and live again
Oh oh oh, gonna try and live again
Oh oh oh, gonna try and live again
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Sometimes lose, sometimes win,
Sometimes you need a friend
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry
Gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry-y-y
Gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry
Gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry, gonna cry-y-y

Self Reflection, Clear Infection

"Hello?" is the question,
From the maker of runes.
Interrupted expression,
As she touches her wounds.

She glances aside,
An object her eyes catch.
To see with her eyes,
The inflicted scratch.

Mirrored reflection,
Of a skald in turmoil.
Blotchy complexion,
Her skin broke out in boils.

The Illness contracted,
Clear as day, verified.
Now a matter of fact,
She's dying inside.

--------------------------

Crawling Live Inside Your Head (based on Summertime in Heidelberg)

When it's crawling live inside your head
There's shadow everywhere
All you see is stress, only loneliness
And the dark hand plays with your hair
Every day is like a horror day
Trolling underneath your skin
With passing time you become more impaired
With a smile that's wearing ever thin

The rash disease, your blood will freeze
Your transformed mind will go astray
Living nightmare for those ensnared
Your flesh will rot away
Stange things happen to your monster bite
Then the bells begin to chime
It could happen to someone just like you
Inside your mind, on borrowed time

Head Aching Worse, Need To Converse

Reynir is confused,
Was it cat committed?
Tuuri self-excused,
Sneakily she exited...

With her hands pressing,
The sides of her head pound.
Head aching, distressing,
Solitary cousin found.

Lalli sitting alone,
With his back to his peers.
Now her mind's blown,
Perhaps she'll share her fears.

"Hi Lalli", says she,
Striking conversation.
"Hi?" Lalli queries,
A family consultation?

From The Scout Who Sits, Better Get Used To It

Making talk small,
Before Tuuri mentions,
The dark, shadowy call,
Source of much tension.

Lalli can also hear them,
Even now, albeit weak.
Why do the questions come?
A false answer, so to speak.

Just talking with Reynir,
He hasn't heard them before.
Just substitute him for her,
In this familial rapport.

Lalli understands a bit,
The voices broken and frayed.
Need to get used to it.
They won't ever go away...

Going To Bed? Mask Off Head

Will the voices separated
Ever find a way beyond?
With a guide initiated,
Else unknown thereupon.

Well, she's going to bed,
At least that's what she says.
Shoulders droop, weary head,
A resigned look on her face.

The bad end will begin,
Mind broken, heavy brow.
Taking mask off her chin,
There's no point to it now...

Bad Vibrations
(based on Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys)

I, I feel swallowed up in despair
And the way the shadow seems to rend and tear
I hear the sound of a broken word
On the wind that leaves me hurt and unprepared

I'm sick o' these bad vibrations
It's giving me desolation (Oom stop stop)
I'm sick o' these bad vibrations (Bad vibrations, oom stop stop)
It's giving me deprivation (Deprivation, oom stop stop)
Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations (Oom stop stop)
It's giving me degradation (Degradation, oom stop stop)
Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations (Oom stop stop)
It's giving me desperation (Desperation)

Close my eyes, they're somehow closer now
All the while, I know I've lost my mind
Well it's a sure demise
See ghosts with me to a broken world

I'm sick o' these bad vibrations
It's giving me desolation (Oom stop stop)
I'm sick o' these bad vibrations (Bad vibrations, oom stop stop)
It's giving me deprivation (Deprivation, oom stop stop)
Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations (Oom stop stop)
It's giving me degradation (Degradation, oom stop stop)
Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations (Oom stop stop)
It's giving me desperation (Desperation)

(Ahh)
(Ah, my, my, what frustration)
I don't know where but I'm going there
(Oh, my, my, what a sensation)
(Oh, my, my, what mutation)
(Oh, my, my, what)

Gotta stop these buzzin' bad vibrations, it's maddenin', it hurts
Gotta stop these buzzin' bad vibrations, it's maddenin', it hurts
Gotta stop these buzzin' bad vibrations, it's maddenin'

(Ahh)

Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations (Oom bop bop)
(I'm pickin' up bad vibrations) (Oom bop bop)
It's giving me desperation (Desperation, oom bop bop)
Ooh, vi, ooh, bad vibrations

Na na na na na, na na na
Na na na na na, na na na (Bop bop-bop-bop-bop, bop)
Do do do do do, do do do (Bop bop-bop-bop-bop, bop)
Do do do do do, do do do (Bop bop-bop-bop-bop, bop)

She's Gone, To Be With The Swan

Off with the mask and a run to the trees
Gripped with the resigned fate of rash disease
To water's edge, looking up to the sky
A red bird flying, it's really goodbye

She never thought it would really come true
But now there's only one thing left to do...
Realisation and fear taking hold
Seeing the footprints to the water cold

Shout desperate but too slow is it heard
Into a watery grave now interred
Racing downslope in vain but it's too late
Go on her own terms, the bold Tuuri's fate

Onni, sorry. Someone should have told you
With Tuonela to journey anew
"No! Stop! Come back! You can't leave me alone!"
The owl dropping from the air like a stone

Like a bright candle out before its due
Her life was cut short, what now for the crew?
The impact like a thundering bombshell
Brave skald mechanic, god speed and farewell

Little Bird [poem]
« Reply #861 on: June 29, 2017, 01:49:17 PM »
LITTLE BIRD
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The solemn Cat and lively Bird
Treaded 'cross the lands of Death
The Owl fretted endlessly
With every waking, sleeping breath

The daring Fox, pragmatic Bear,
The hopeful Dog and Fire-Fly
Their only four companion souls
All looked to the horizion high

As did they, with naught a thought
To ghosts and gremlins, trolls of rot
The Bird had seen her only shot
Words of old were what they sought

The motley crew, they trundled on,
Facing threat of life and limb,
Within their rolling fortress strong
The heroes always, always win.

But the world, the world is an unfair place
With every risk there comes a price
And soon did both the Cat and Bird
Regret not thinking, thinking twice

The Owl, resting, second-guessing
The untruths of the faithful Dog
Let himself be fooled and faded
Back to dreaming, sleeping fog

It's just a bite, it's just a scratch
A little thing, an itching pain--
But no, but no, so said the Blight
The price of breaching Death's domain

The ocean, ocean, cold and dark
Yet offering her final hope
Beckoned, beckoned Little Bird
No time to weep, nor time to mope

A bleeding heart and beating wings
Lifted to the skies above
Sleep deeply, deeply, Little Bird
And dream sweet dreams of life and love

Pretty poem and welcome to the forum. If you have time, might I suggest introducing yourself here - https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=131.3075

How about instead of making a new topic for this, you add it to the Poetry Collection?https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=4.855

I will combine the posts in a few hours when I get home. KiffyBee, would you be okay with having your post moved to the relevant thread?

Sure, I don't mind! Sorry 'bout that, I was pointed to this forum like 20 minutes before I went to work so I just slapped this up before getting to read any of the forum rules or look for collections.

Flock Bygone, Escort By Swan

For the few good-hearted,
The end, their destiny.
Go, dearly departed,
To endless serenity.

Past the rapids frozen,
The bird's path and summer vast.
For those lucky few chosen,
They will reach it at last.

A red swan as a guide,
For many a bird.
Travelling side-by-side,
Between realms to transfer.

Signifying eternal rest,
The end of one's road.
For those truly blessed,
Quietful soul's abode.

Few living have gone there,
Returning, even fewer have done.
But the chance is not ne'er,
For another meeting, bar none.

Large crimson wings spread,
Like an open umbrella.
To a place beyond led,
Distant realm of Tuonela.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

In The Forest, Kneeling, Depressed

Like a nightmare waking,
Alone with the trees.
On the verge of breaking,
Down on his knees.

Lonely undertaking,
Reporting what he sees.
Post events earthshaking,
Might make his heart freeze.

Slowly losing control,
Mental degradation.
Never again be whole,
In forced separation.

Lost part of his soul,
In a mournful position.
Paying a heavy toll,
On this far-travelled mission.

---------------------------

Post Drown (based on Ghost Towns by Radical Face)

I've got no need for open roads
'Cause all I own fits on my back
I see the world from rusted trains
And always know the world is black

'Cause all my life is wrapped up in today
No past or future here
If you aren't here with me too
You just walked in the tide

But I miss you
But there's no comin' home
It's all monochrome
Couldn't say goodbye
I still think of you
But everyone knows
Yeah everyone knows
And I can't let it go

I've seen more places than I can name
And over time they all start to look the same
But it ain't that truth we chase
No, it's the promise of a better place

But all this time, I've been chasin' down a lie
And I know it for what it is
But if only you could have lived
So I'll struggle by

I still miss you
There's no goin' home
It's all monochrome
No-one by my side
I still dream of you
But everyone knows
Yeah everyone knows
And I can't let it go

Sadness Wracked, Tree Bark Whacked

With the sun rising,
Light hits the ground.
A day demoralising,
Now one person down.

Internal agonizing,
Lalli begins to pound.
Mind destabilising,
Already tightly wound.

The pain, how it stings,
The tree takes his ire.
The others gathering,
Surrounding the fire.

Total lack of sleep,
Saw no warning signs.
Now collapsed in a heap,
The mourning feline.

Translator's departed,
His connection gone.
The man disheartened,
How will he carry on?

Grave Cairn, Crew Despairin'

Moving rocks to form,
Too hard to dig ground.
Still smoking, warm,
A makeshift cairn mound.

An event sobering,
For the leader proud.
Responsibility shouldering,
Now no longer as loud...

Solemn Norwegian boss,
Nearly out is her flame.
With the heavy felt loss,
It will ne'er be the same.

Face full of regret,
Her eyes sadness racked.
The remaining quintet.
Have to start their way back.

The shepherd mage raggedy,
Couldn't help with his signs.
Hit hard by the tragedy,
In the cabin confines.

The sadness is choking,
Dealt a massive blow.
Very few word spoken,
Only "We need to go".

Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

"Come On" Says She, Lalli Head Pressed To Tree

Can't spend more evenings,
Waiting like troll snacks.
So gather all your things,
Food, clothes and backpacks.

The Finnish mage though,
Deep in his own thoughts.
Some ritual to undergo,
Not moving from that spot.

She shouts "Lalli! Come on!"
No answer. Again "Lalli!"
Let us all get gone!
No time to dilly-dally!

At her second shout stressing,
What's making him so slow?
It must be most pressing,
In Swedish he shouts "Go!"

Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Lalli Spooks, Put Up His Dukes

Now surprised stares
On the faces three.
Of words she's aware!
Sigrun can't leave Lalli.

To devices of their own
The leader can't leave.
Above all a scout lone
Whom she cannot speak with.

Telling Mikkel, the big man,
To go on a fetch quest,
With his bear-like hands,
It'll be for the best.

"I am sorry but you
Have to come with us now."
But Lalli's task isn't through,
Hands off - not allowed!

Shrugging his advances,
And running off to make space.
Raising fists, fighting stances,
And anger on his cat face.

Mikkel lowers his arm
And trying to placate.
He means Lalli no harm,
But will it translate?

--------------------------------

Cat Fighting (based on Chain Lightning by Rush)

Lethargy is outrageous
Sending off the dead
Head's pressed down to spirit invocation
Everything turns to lack of conversation

Damn these lagging mages
What goes through their heads?
Fetch him and interrupt his fixation
Grab him now and start our ambulation

Respond, migrate, get back, arbitrate

Sudden ire on his surprising
Recoils and springs as he flees uptight
His showing maybe grief
But he will try to fight

Grabbing him is reckless
Fists raised to his head
Calming down Lalli's aggravation
Babysit his botheration

Respond, migrate, get back, arbitrate

Sudden ire on his surprising
Recoils and springs as he flees uptight
His showing maybe grief
But he will try to fight

Reflected in another pose to strike
With movements unwise
Futile tries
Aggression in his bothered pair of eyes

Cookie gift confections
Better to get him fed
Poor response to your invitation
Try to stop an altercation

Respond, migrate, get back, arbitrate

Ritual Inexorable, Emil Is Terrible

Those people can't make him,
In this way can't be bossed.
Don't disturb the Finn,
So that Tuuri won't be lost.

The cat mage bereaved,
They should just let him be.
He needs more time so leave,
Then he can make sure properly.

He isn't satisfied
With the funerary ritual.
He needs to correctly guide
For the presence spiritual.

Sigrun at least now can see,
The importance of the task.
She can't understand his needs,
So she gets Emil to ask?!?

She over-estimates, his
Language skills not the best.
His last attempt evaporated,
Surely the leader jests.

Just seeing their faces,
Can't understand their voices.

Only hearing noises...
