Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli (with a few small changes)

You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you

Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare
The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that is real
You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you

I love you braidy
And if it's quite all right
I need you braidy
To warm the lonely nights
I love you braidy
Trust in me when I say
Oh pretty braidy
Don't bring me down I pray
Oh pretty braidy
Now that I've found you stay
And let me love you, braidy
Let me love you

You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off You

I love you braidy
And if it's quite all right
I need you braidy
To warm the lonely nights
I love you braidy
Trust in me when I say
Oh pretty braidy
Don't bring me down I pray
Oh pretty braidy
Now that I've found you stay
And let me love you, braidy
Let me love you
You're just too good to be true
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Two this time, both from Pg 299:

Inspired by http://www.sssscomic.com/comic.php#comment-1955926715 Sunflower’s comment below.

“Silent World”
from “Moon River”
by H. Mancini

Silent World
Shrouded now and strange
What mysteries now range
In you?
Though not immune
I hear the tune
That calls me to
Explore
Your far shores
It’s true

Though grosslings
Try to block my way
I’ll conquer all my days
And so
I’ll climb the next hill
And go on
Graceful as a swan
With each and ev’ry dawn
Silent World
You’ll know

=

“Here’s Reynir the Braid”
from “Sir Robin the Brave” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJCBAFzYY68
by J. Raposo & the Muppets

So now we’ve
Met Reynir the Braid
Though some still are
Sorely afraid

Trust Minna
To see that
They’ll meet up
With DerpCat

And no one
Will snuff it
(Those giants
Can stuff it!)

But friendship
Will grow without aid
Now that they’ve
Found Reynir the Braid!

[Spoken]

--But he’s not immune.
--Yes, but neither is Tuuri
*Not reassured*

[Sung]

From stowaway
To extra mouth
It seems his trip
Has headed south

From old sheep farm
Into the world
Was Reynir’s goal
As it unfurled

To that fine end
A ship he found
And saw it was
To Bornholm bound

Once out at sea
He told the cook
And then he faced
Disaster!

The crew were not
To go ashore
Just dump their freight
And nothing more

But then he heard
“Unload two crates!”
And took the chance
To pass the gates

So was it
That Reynir the Braid
Himself for some
Tuna did trade

A pris’ner
They took him
Gave Mikkel
A look-in

While Lalli
Was glaring
And Sigrun
Was swearing

But Torbjörn
Just could not be swayed
They’re stuck with
This Reynir the Braid!

Poeeeeeems! This is just one I made up on the spot, and it is also my first time on the forums. I hope you all enjoy. I edited it a bit. Page 297, titled: Little Boy Braidy.

Little boy Braidy was so clever,
He ran away from home,
Leaving not a trace behind,
Except for a tiny note.

He found a ship,
(Not the fandom kind)
Washed dishes,
Peeled potatoes.

Stowed away in a box,
Tuna cans still inside,
Little boy Braidy went to shore,
And got his head and hands smashed by everyone's favorite fair-haired pyrotechnic/pyromaniac.

So the last line isn't very poetic, too bad. ;)

Page 299

Based on The Last Unicorn by America

When the last human flees
Over the last crumbling mountain
And the last soldier sees
The trolls there at their fountain
In the shadow of the fortress
Though it may be weak and wan
He will stare with regret
At the last stand of man

When the first breath of winter
Over your land is icing
And you look to the south
At the trolls hibernating
And it seems like all is dying
And would leave the world to mourn
You can hear the celebration
mankind will be reborn

We´re alive, we´re alive

When the last moon is cast
Over the last star of morning
And the future has passed
Without even a last desperate warning
Then look into this place where through
Stubborn will a path is formed
Look and see the desperate living
We will overcome all

We´re alive, we´re alive

Since we can't post on old pages anymore, this goes here:
For Pg 299:

“A Shipper’s Meme”
from “What Is a Youth?”
by N Rota & E Walter

So here’s a youth
With hair like fire
And there’s a maid
Though some will tire
The ships sail on
“Reyuuri” is
Its fan nickname
So go the ships
Some truly are insane

If they share a look, a smile
Shippers frenzy for a while
Though it’s no more than that
Lalli still acts the wary cat
Mikkel is calm and steady
Sigrun to ditch him is ready
But Reynir is so tall

Emil looks on
From his place of guard
“Not prisoner”
But he must still ward
Sheepish this shepherd
He knows he did wrong
Now they must go and
Drag him all along
Sheepish this shepherd
He knows he did wrong
Now does end my song

Looking at this page, it got me to think about governmental advertising and suddenly there was this picture in my head of the old movies where suddenly everyone is stepdancing and singing (nowadays very surreal but fun to watch sometimes) and with their dance and song advertising for this program. And my brain didn´t stop there (probably should have...)
This probably belongs in another thread...but I hope it is okay when I save it here.

Based on "New York New York" of the musical "On The Town"

Anna Sigridur Einarsdóttir:
Come on, Honey, hurry up!

Annas Husband:
Our first child!

Medical staff:
Hey, watch it!
You'd think it was your first time in the Dagrenning Program!

Anna:
It is!

Anna, her husband:
Safety to choose
for our children is great!

Anna:
We've got one day here and not another minute
to loose in signing in!

Annas husband:
We'll find the romance and love that´s waiting in it
Beneath the sience firn;
But we've hope in our hearts
that what´s in our cards
IS! A! CHILD!

Anna, Husband:
Dagrenning is the program of choice.
And on this thing we speak with one voice
We see the future littered with toys
Dagrenning is the program of choice!

Anna:
(points to building of the Dagrenning Program)
Hey, Honey! Honey, look.

(consulting her appointment paper with reverence and excitement)

Honey, it says here "There are over 50 successful births every year with over 10.000 donors from every corner of the world,
except finland!"

Husband:
Here we go again!

Anna:

The tests they´re doing with me now are so many,
or so the paper says.
I promise, honey, I wouldn't miss on any.
And we have just one day.
Your part is here in this room
Be done with it soon, I will wait.

Medical Staff:
In just one day!

Dagrenning is the program we need
There´s enough space for more young mouths to feed
And they´re immune, they will be the seed
Of man´s return to his place at the peak!

(Ragnheidur enters, carrying a baby with a cold, the rag she has over her shoulder to protect her clothes is soiled through)

Husband:
Hey! Look who's comin' in! It's Ragnheidur and her cutie!

Anna:
Hello, Ragnheidur! Isn´t it satisfying having a child?

Ragnheidur (sarcastic):
Really Wonderful - I don't rue it at all!

Husband:
Awesome! I can´t wait!

(The baby sneezes snot all over his mothers clothes. Ragnheidur exits quickly unsuccessfully wiping at her clothes with the soiled rug.)

Anna:

Icelandic women are known to getting their wish
Or so the medics say;
There´s just one thing that´s important to me here
When I have just one day;
Gotta pick up a babe!

Husband:
Maybe seven...

Anna:
Or eight
In this way.

Anna, Husband:
In just one day!

Dagrenning is the program we need
There´s enough space for more young mouths to feed
And they´re immune, they will be the seed
Of man´s return to his place at the peak!

COOKIE LOVE

C# E F#...C# E B...
C# E F# A E...A B E

I've been scoutin' all night, I'm past dead on my feet
And I haven't had anything to eat
I found some books and escape routes too
And a place to camp that's out of view

After the debrief
And I'm sleeping sitting up
The bear-man hands me something
Now I'm in love
I don't have to ask at all

I've got this thing that's called Cookie Love
I've got these stars in my eyes,
Cookie Love

The radio's blaring some static trolls
the redhead's babblin', sayin' who knows?
The pouch has got me hypnotized
And I'm sneaking up to claim my prize

When I got hungry,
And my hunger got too much
He sent me cookies,
Comin' in from above
Don't need a language at all

I've got this thing that's called Cookie Love
I've got this scent in my head,
Cookie Love

Move real slow, I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Bear-man stands and walks away
Looks like it's my lucky day

The radio's playin' some trollish funk
Bear-man just ran out of luck
I grabbed the pouch and away I slunk
I'm purrin' underneath the bunk

When I get famished and I think I'm gonna faint
Don't need no huntin', I don't even need a plate
I don't need utensils at all

I've got this thing that's called Cookie Love
I've got my eyes on the prize
I've got this thing that's called Cookie Love
I've got this thing that's called
Cookie Love

Pg. 301 - Chapter 7 cover

Beast Sighted

Sigrun and Emil walking through the waste.
Leisurely, not making haste.
Is Reynir in another dream,
And will he be accepted in the team?

Those eyes indeed pierce through the haze,
All they see are tentacles and snakes,
Enough to give a man the shakes.
Whose eyes are those that there gaze?

The mother apprehensive-faced.
Is this the kitty that we see,
Or is it one of the family?
The wild beast wants to have a taste.

Protect the little kitty, cat,
Scared of the beast it's looking at.
Will it be able to stay alive?
We'll know once the chapter arrives.

------------------------------------

Eyes Without A Face by Billy Idol (with a few small changes)

I'm all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall
When you're far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.

I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For saving what was you

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.

When you hear the noises you make a dip
Into someone else's dreaming then make a slip.
Start the tank and go to a safe place
Oh, the red-headed fool.

Hanging out by the water's edge,
Perilously standing on the ledge
Drinkin' it down, oh
I'm on my own on a monster hunting trip
Escaped from working on that boring ship
I'm thinkin' of you
You're out there so
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.

Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don't despise
Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realise

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.
Such a human waste your eyes without a face
And now it's getting worse.

My 3rd attempt at filk, posted also on page 301:

I'll Make a Man Out of You, from Disney's Mulan (Sigrun singing mostly to Emil)

Let's begin your training
To defeat the Trolls
You got lucky one time
But there’ll be many more!

You're sadly lacking in hand-to-hand,
But you can bet before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man
Out of you.

Yes you know explosives,
And they can be fun
But cardio’s important
Trolls can really run!

You’ve got sparkles? That’s pathetic, boy
And you haven’t got a clue.
Somehow I’ll make a man
Out of you!

Tuuri: I'm never gonna catch my breath
Emil: Say goodbye to those who knew me
Reynir: Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym
Mikkel: This gal's got them scared to death
Lalli: Tuuri, explain this to me
Sigrun: Now I really wish that I could trade them in!

[men] BE A MAN
We must be swift as a coursing river
[men] BE A MAN
With all the force of a great typhoon
[men] BE A MAN
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

Time to start a book-hunt!
I feel so alive!
Heed my every order
And you might survive.

You’re unsuited for the rage of war
But on this trip I think you’ll do
Someday I’ll make a man
Out of you!

[men] BE A MAN
We must be swift as a coursing river
[men] BE A MAN
With all the force of a great typhoon
[men] BE A MAN
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

[everyone]BE A MAN
We must be swift as a coursing river
BE A MAN
With all the force of a great typhoon
BE A MAN
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
Hoo-ah!

My second attempt at filk, from page 289:

Tomorrow, from the musical Annie

Sigrun'll calm down tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
There'll be fun!
Just thinkin' about tomorrow,
Clears away the yelling and the sorrow
Come what may!

When you’re stuck in a place that’s loud and lonely
Reynir, stick out your chin and grin and say, oh

Sigrun’ll calm down tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on till tomorrow
Come what may!
"Oh, Reynir, oh Reynir, I love ya" tomorrow
That's what Sigrun will say

When you’re stuck in a place that’s loud and lonely
Reynir, stick out your chin and grin and say, oh

Sigrun’ll calm down tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on till tomorrow
Come what may!
"Oh, Reynir, oh Reynir, I love ya" tomorrow
That's what Sigrun will say

(Fangirl chorus) OOOOOOOOHHHHHH,
Reynir, oh Reynir! We love you! oh Reynir!
That's what the TEEEEEEAM WIIIIIIIILL SAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

Page 301, Cover of Chapter 7

Inspired by the middle panel, I thought about what might happen and that led to this filk:

Based on Lady in Black by Uriah Heep

We found her lair one morning
one lonely foggy morning
her poor body lying there all bloody and torn up.
We know not how she kept on,
for her wounds were really gruesome
but she raised her head when we came near and tried to make a stand.

Aaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaa

Compassion moved us deeply
to see a symbol of our fight
as broken as she was and still not ready to give up
We stood around her crying
We really wished to help her
but she would hiss and try to scratch whenever we came near.

Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa

When she felt her strength was waning, she looked at us with pleading eyes
and something in her gaze showed us she wanted us to stay.
We stood just still and stayed silent to show her not to fear us
She raised one paw and showed the reason of her fighting will.

Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa

We saw a tiny kitten there
Just old enough to open eyes
Meowing and in search for shelter as his mother died.
"Dear cat, we understand now, we will preserve your memory,
and raise your child so be assured we will honor this day."

Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa

Thus having spoke we got the welp
and had a last look at this place
where such deep sorrow happened, but new life was there as well.
Our searching is no easier, but now we have a child to raise
to what we hope will sure become a member of our crew.
And if one day there comes a time we would despair in sorrow
We find new heart each time we think upon that foggy day.

Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa
Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa...

“Ode to a Chapter Cover”
from “Beautiful Dreamer”
by Stephen Foster

Beautiful cover
Images three
What can their import
For this chapter be?
Let's take a closer
Look at each one
Trying to spot things
Now isn't that fun?

First is an image
Of warriors two
Sigrun and Emil
Both strolling away
Into an urban
Wasteland it's true
But our two warriors
Will carry the day

Next shows a fam'ly
Mother and kits
Crouching and hiding
And using their wits
From once a pet now
Caniform Beast
Always desirous
To on a cat feast

Now to the final
Image we go

That we can yet see
Reynir in dreamland
Fierce eyes below
What can their import
For this chapter be?
What can their import
For this chapter be?

p. 301 The beginning of the chapter break following Reynir's exposition.

To get us through the break:
With apologies to The Kings

"This Break Goes on/Pressin’ F5"

Where’s Sigrun? Where’s Tuuri?
The break is almost up and I’ve been feeling moody.

Like back when Reynir was called Braidy
and half the posters thought that he was a lady.

There are lots of Minnions I can chat with anytime
Commiserate on Disqus or forum
Like a bunch of lunatics we type till way past dawn
Sure we’ll make filk un-til the break is done
Yet this break goes on. And on, and on, and on.

This waiting, makes you crazy.
We’ll re-read from Zero until we reach the 90s

And when it’s up: Time to analyze!
But for the minute, I’ll be pressing F5

I don’t give a hoot about what’s on TV today
I read, make filk, and analyze.
Lunatics Anonymous that's where I belong
Because I’ll be one till this break is done
Yet this break goes on. And on, and on, and on.

Sure we’ll reach 2000 comments when the break is done

Yet this break goes on.

This break goes on, this break goes on
This break goes on, this break goes on
This break goes on, this break goes on
(repeat ad nauseum) On and on and on.

THIS BREAK GOES….

Nothing's rougher than a weekend
From an update point of view
Except a chapter break that’s so long
You feel your brain begin to brew

Pressin’ F5
Pressin’ F5
Pressin’ F5
Pressin’ F5

Will our team thieve undetected
throughout the troll-nest-ridden town?
Can't go back on the bridge, they've wrecked it.
Can't wait until Derp-cat is found!

Pressin’ F5, Pressin’ F5
Pressin’ F5, Pressin’ F5

The canon that’s in my head
Makes sense to me, but I defer to what Minna’s said.

Pressin’ F5, Pressin’ F5
Pressin’ F5, Pressin’ F5

Pressin’ F5, yeah…. Pressin’ F5.
Yeah, Pressin’ F5,
I’m Pressin’ F5,

I’m tryin’ to find out more about
those trolls ya know?
About those trolls!
