So, like, what other webcomics are folks here reading? I’ve been following ARTD and SSSS for nearly a decade now, and I’m gonna need something else to fill this void! I also enjoy the threads the other readers post here, even if I’m not the biggest commenter myself. I’d love to cross paths again with you guys!
I’ve been reading/recommend:
Tiger Tiger (also a Finnish artist with a great sense of humor)
Wildelife
Gunnerkrigg Court
God Slave (mild hiatus but still updating in page drops)
Skin Deep
Digger (competed years ago but wonderful story nonetheless)
I would love it if you guys could expand on this with other material!

No one has mentioned Widdershins. Its my current favorite and has a dozen+ complete shorter stories, excellent characterization and plot and the art is fine. unfortunately on slower but still regular updates over the current season.
Others I follow which have been mentioned are Girl Genius, Namesake and Gunnerkrieg Court, all of which have long production and regular updates, great stories and imagination. I tried Unsounded and it was just too violent for me, but I will try some of the others suggested here

based on the comic suggestions here, a lot of you would enjoy Namesake - which has a very complex and innovative magical plotline (difficult to describe) involving known stories, including the Oz stories and Peter Pan, Thumbelina, Jack and the Beanstock, the firebird, Dr. Jekyl, among others and the competing bids to save or control the multiverse. Namesake has been ongoing for over 10 years.

Regular updates:
Bicycle Boy (F) - post-apocalypse vaguely steampunk adventure story, GORGEOUS art with a host of intriguing and very distinctive characters
Never Satisfied (M,F) - magic, class, and the difficulty of understand others. Fantastic expressions. BROOM GIRL
Vattu (1-2 weekly updates) - nonhuman fantasy world, extremely professional work, Romanesque empire and conquered peoples.
It is a tragedy for a friend to die. I don't expect your forgiveness for that. It is a tragedy for an emperor even toexist.
Beyond the Western Deep (S, temporary hiatus) - a world in uneasy peace between the different mammalian races (basically squirrels, otters, wolves, ferrets and foxes). And now somebody's killed a general and ducked it up, leaving our young heroes in the middle of a conflict they had no part in creating.
Irregular updates:
Brainchild (1/week with occasional skips) - university student meets paranormal hallucinations (????) meets medical conspiracy (???????). Very expressive character design.
String Theory (intermittent but has been posting for years with no sign of stopping, long backlog) - supervillain origin story following the terrible but nonetheless sympathetic Dr Schtein. Again fabulous art (look at the most recent update holy SHIT), story up the wazoo, superpowers, fungal zombies
Scoob and Shag (slow schedule, long pages) - ...weird. Nothing like anything else on this list, but it's here because I want you to suffer with me.
Read the latest update to see where the art style ends up, then start from episode 12 and you're not allowed to give up until episode 43. There is a plot, I promise.
On hiatus but not abandoned:
Fireweed Moors (due back 2023+) - young woman moving house runs into man with cat head chased by the cops. ???? new comic, but this looks likes one for the books. Art is A++
Daughter of the Lillies (due back late 2022 due to terms of Disney contract, long reading backlog)- fantasy world following a group of mercenary adventurers. Terrific writing and art.
Witchy (due back in 2023, long reading backlog) - Starts slow, with the hapless Nyneve heading off for a normal day at school, then everything goes absolutely to pot. South Asian fantasy setting, beautiful plot
Seconding:
Tiger Tiger (1-2 weekly)
Paranatural (F)
Unsounded (MWF)
Wilde Life (MWF)

Kill Six Billion Demons, The Witch Door, Demon Street, Kill Witch Kill, Strong Female Protagonist and Kochab are some that I've been reading recently. Strong Female Protagonist is on indefinite hiatus and Demon Street updates very sporadically but they're both still worth checking out.

I follow a few, although recently many have slowed or changed their formats. It's depressing, but here's what I recommend. Any fellow readers, please feel free to correct my summaries if they are misleading.
Girl Genius- steampunk adventure meets romance, MWF
The Glass Scientists- LGTBQ romance take on famous Gothic fiction characters M
Then there is Paranatural - Boy moves to new town, gains ability to see, and fight spirits. F
I don't follow this one anymore, but not because it got bad. The art is amazing, very expressive and full of detail, and the story is very well developed and thought out, but this took a toll on the author and they developed a chronic wrist strain. The updates dropped from three days a week to two, then finally one. At the worst it was a new update ever 2 to 3 weeks.
A few months ago, they changed the format from full comic panels to text with minor illustrations. This is much easier for the author to complete on time, the story is moving much faster, and contextually nothing has changed. The story being told by text is the same that was going to be told by art. But my perceptions of the characters based on the art is different that the details being presented by text. I suppose it's my fault for not picking up on this presentation before, but I was unable to reconcile these differences in my mind, so I stopped following along. It's like if your favorite book switched to film midway though a chapter.
Don't let this stop you from reading it though! I wouldn't be recommending it to you if I didn't think highly of Paranatural. I am omitting several comics I also follow from this list, because I am not sure you would like them. We probably will see you each other around. I also follow Gunnerkrigg Court and Wilde Life, the latter of which I am active on.

The Order of the Stick, but that's perennial and almost done too.
Freefall.
The Whiteboard.
The Serpent, the Sinner and the Saint.
Unearth (the one set in early 19th Century England).
Geek Fortress.
Breadfinder.
Meau.
I think that's it.

I don't know how many times I've reread Digger. I reread it again this week. One thing about it is that you should be sure to look around the edges of each panel and not just focus on the main action. There are all sorts of little things that turn up.

£104. Paperback. Used. Alas!
Oh well, it's still online; let us hope it stays up fora goo, long while!
(Anybody else get a glitch, when commenting in Disqus, whereby hitting Enter twice, too fast, deletes everything in the text box prior to that? It's too irritating!)

We have some threads for discussion of other interesting web comics over on the Fan Forum. Come and join us there! I’m reading Digger and Girl Genius, which are good. My husband, who is far deeper into web comics than am I, also recommends Freefall and Schlock Mercenary. I can ask him about other recs later.

The other webcomic I follow faithfully right now is Sleepless Domain. It's a pretty great take on the magical girl genre, and there's quite a lot out now (though I suspect it will be entering the story climax before too long).

The Silver Eye is very good, updates Fridays, and the art is INCREDIBLE. Many many many subplots, speculation to engage in, and wonderful characters.

How to be a Werewolf is a comic i got really into recently!
The World in Deeper Introspection / the Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya is finished, more or less, but it is really good and will probably appeal if you enjoy Gunnerkrigg and SSSS.

Ben Fleuter’s Sword Interval has an incredible story and characters, set in a world starting to magically, apocalyptically come apart at the seams. The story is completed, but I keep going back and rereading it because the character development is so incredible.
Daughter of the Lilies by Meg Syverud and Yoko Weaver is another amazing web comic I highly encourage you to check out. It follows a team of adventurers who form a dysfunctional but tightly bonded family (sound familiar?). It’s currently on hiatus until next October because Meg is currently working for The Mouse and has legal constraints on her art during that gig.

Unsounded!! Probably the only comic I know to beat Minna's quality of art on a similar (MWF) update schedule. The characters are INCREDIBLE, the story feels very planned, and the webcomic does fun things with the web format every once in a while. Be warned that while it comes with a warning that it's "PG-13", it is a HARD R -- it's not gritty or grim for the sake of it, but there are definitely instances of gore, partial nudity, and some edge sexual assault themes. Frickin incredible tho.
Another I enjoy on Webtoons is Space Boy. Four Leaf on there is great too, and if you're into queer shit and haven't read Go Get a Roomie, you're missing out.

I binged Kochab in one day, only to find that it had gone into a longer break in August of 2020. The good news is that the break seems to be at its end, or at least near it.
https://www.kochab-comic.com/Here's a copy pasted description from the comic's about page:
"Kochab is a YA wlw fantasy comic about two girls lost in a pile of ruins under the woods, inspired by various myths and fairytales.
The story follows Sonya, a lost skier trying to survive a snowy wilderness and find her way back to her village, and Kyra - a fire spirit trying to fix the home that she’s let fall apart around her."
The story and overall setting have a very cozy feel to them, especially as Kyra starts melting away ice and snow that have made their way into her palace. Ideally, this is a story you'd read with a cup of hot beverage nearby, being bundled up in your favourite warm sweater or blanket AND with a snow storm raging outside.

Allison Shaw has some good comics but they don't update nearly as much as Minna did. I don't think any webcomic updates as much as her! Anyway, def check out Allison's Tigress Queen. She has another comic called Far to the North that has been on hiatus since 2019 but she said she plans on reviving it this year. Ten Earth Shattering Blows is a great one too but it is totally different from this. Rising Sand is INSANELY well drawn and is updating but updates slowly. Worth the wait though in my opinion. The artisits do livestreaming as well.

Kamikaze is a fun one if you like post-apocalyptic stories featuring an intrepid adventurer - in this case a reluctant hero girl who gets embroiled in the intrigues of her desert city. It's drawn in an animated cartoon style, and output is very consistent, though not as frequent as Minna. I don't know how Minna does it...

There's Girl Genius, which has been going for more than twice as long as SSSS at 3/4 the output rate - ie, there's a huge archive to read through! It's well-drawn, fantastical and fun!
