Okay, here goes:

Post-count-based ranks: Scouting Stranger, Farm Hand, Villager, Citizen (in the original sense, i.e., someone living in a city), Capital Dweller. To be extended as counts rise, and the protagonists discover new, ever-more-interesting locations. :) (Keep posting now, and you can become a Ruler of the Derelict Airport!)

Special ranks (I'm listing more specials than the forum software AFAIK supports, just in case):

Minced Troll - banned permanently
In Quarantine - banned temporarily
Fallen Caster - a user whose posts will only be published after a mod proofread them (presumably due to persistent use of strong runo, er, language ;) )
Cleanser of the Scroll - forum mods
Lady of the Budget - forum admin (yes, that means you, Eich. You are getting billed for this server, aren't you? :P )
Snout of the Giant - anyone whose big-mouthing has incurred the wrath of her Ladyship :'(
Aurora Officialis - Minna herself

I'm intentionally staying away from single words straight from the comic (e.g., "Troll") because they're usually part of a series (Beast/Troll/Giant/...) that we might want to use as a series later on.

I may be wrong but there doesn't seem to be any method for saving a draft of a post.  If there's not, can that functionality be added?

Hhmm, I don't know if this is the most relevant improvement to do currently, but maybe you should add board for fan-art and fanfiction? There is lot of talented people here, so new board will come useful at some point.

Ferbette: I don't think she has an account, does she?

JoB:  Literally everything about your post was clever.  Very seriously considering making "Ruler of a Derelict Airport" the top rank; it's hilarious.  Two things though:  server is free, but I'll upgrade to paid if the site ever starts having lagging issues or something serious, and... I ain't no lady   :D

Mayabird: There's no way currently, but I'll check out the SMF site for a modification.  I've always used copy+paste, but if you only need to save so you can look back through a couple pages, as long as you use your browser's back and forward buttons, you can check previous pages without losing your post.  I'd recommend experimenting with that on a post sometime.  In the mean time, I'll check out the site and get back to you on the upgrade.

Hedge14: Anyone can make a fanart thread in the SSSS board and aRTD board if they want to.  However, that brings me to my next topic...

I'm considering making a "Skald" class for certain users...  It would be a decorative title awarded by me or a mod to anyone who's contributed a lot of artistic content to the comments section of Minna's site, the poetry threads, any art threads, or even some kind of musicians' thread that might exist at some point.  What does everybody think about that?

a) Close enough to being the treasurer IMHO ;)
b) The comedic contrast was sort of the point of choosing Ms Icelandic Government as the namesake ... :P

Same caveat about single-word in-storyverse terms like "Troll" = banned or "Cleanser" = mod as already mentioned in my post. "Resident Skald", mayhaps?

Mayhaps... I don't really see what kind of series skald would fit into, though.

It's one of the established professions in the storyverse, just like cleanser, (other) military, (other) academic, peasant etc. ...

I like a "[Resident] Skald" optional title.  I can already think of 4-5 posters in the Poetry section who should be practicing their acceptance speeches.  (Honestly, the one starting "It's going to be okay. Okay?" nearly brought me to tears.)

If you do that, would you consider a "Fussy Academic" designation, for those of us who like to dive deeply into topics like how to scrub trollcrud off trains or how much Emil is motivated by noblesse oblige vs. egotism?  Although I long to reach the exalted title of "Empress of the Derelict Airport," I can see that other posters are already more active, in a wider variety of topics.

I think having a class for every type of former would defeat the purpose.  The folks who are talking and diving deeply into topics are doing what forumers are supposed to do, but the folks who are making stuff like poetry and art are doing something different, and something that everyone else can benefit from, so I thought it'd be worth a class of it's own.  Skald would be reserved for maybe 4 or 5 people at most.

I'm only skimming this thread so apologies in advance if it's already been bought up, but I was surprised the forum didn't have email verification.

You're going to need it to keep out most of the trolls.

If you want that title, there's no reason why fussy academics can't put it in their profile, right were Eich has put "Ground control to Major Tom?"

Eich, you make a good point about saving the special class for people who really do something different and special -- the poets and artists.  I withdraw my suggestion.

Are you accepting nominations for "Skald"?

It would be pretty handy if we had some sort of spoiler code. Large images can be hidden that way, and large sections of text if we get into essay mode (which might happen, SSSS has that potential). Not so much useful for actual spoilers (if someone isn't up to date with the comic, why would they be here?), but useful nonetheless.
