Hola! Tengo veinte años.

(Hello! I'm 20.)
I can only carry basic conversations in Spanish, so I'll stop there. I'm in my third year as a university student in the USA studying Chemical Engineering. I'm also working on my thesis in a Toxicology lab. Hence, I have a minuscule amount of time to spend on art, but reading SSSS inspires me to try anyway. This comic is utterly stunning!

Ah, welcome welcome, Liquinox! That's lovely that you're studying chemical engineering. STEM fields are super cool, and though I don't plan to go into one myself, mad props to you for being in such a cool field! ^^

I agree--the comic is very beautiful! And fortunately, this forum is full of loads of people who also agree. Please feel free to make yourself at home here. There are some other language threads here (I'm sure there must be one for Spanish, though I must admit that I haven't looked for that one in particular).

So glad to have you here! :D

Hi! I know I have introduced myself in the normal introduction thread already, but I really want to do it here as well, I hope you don't mind. So...

:uk:
My name is Jerzy (George in English; I wonder if you can pronounce it) and I'm 17 years old guy. I live in Cracow, Poland and I'm starting second year of liceum (more less something like High School) in few weeks. Later, if everything goes according to my plan, I will start studying veterinary medicine. I haven't got many hobbies, but I am very passionate about them. They are: reading, linguistics, biology, animals and tea (This might be addiction, not hobby, but who cares?)
It may also seem odd, but I really enjoy some simple gardening, like weeding and so on. It's really relaxing, at least for me. I also tend to have problems with making new friends or just joining new communities. That's all I've got to say in English.

Now I will disgrace myself with this miserable attempt of using German.
:germany:
Hallo!

That was embarassing.

Now, finally... Polish.
:poland:
Cześć wszystkim! Mam na imię Jerzy, mam siedemnaście lat. Mieszkam w Krakowie, w Polsce, i chodzę do liceum.

It's pretty much the same what in English. I only added my favourite literature authors and mentioned that I consider studying Polish philology after Veterinary

That'd be all about me. I'd also like to mention that I really like SSSS, but it's rather obvious. I am here, after all, am I not? :)

I second kjeks' verdict of your German, and I wonder if you have read the books by Andrzej Sapkowski? He is one of my favourite authors and I'd loooove to read his books in the original, but I'm afraid I'll never learn Polish (aside from some words since one of my sister-in-laws is Polish and so my niece grows up bilingual).

Thank you! German is much easier to read than to use actively
Also: yes! I love Cracow too, not only for how it looks. Actually, being Cracovian is a state of mind :D

And yes, I have read some books by him. Entire The Witcher series, Narrenturm, and, right now, I'm reading Boży Wojownicy (Warriors of God in English). It's not much, but always :D

...Darn it, now I have remembered that I wanted to learn Polish. Adding that to the list of definitely-over-twenty-at-this-point languages I particularly want to learn. I should prolly try to actually narrow that down, but narrowing it down got it to the twenty-something languages it's at now. XD

And I could actually understand a pathetically small amount of your German, woo!

I'm really glad to hear this. Not many even consider learning Polish!

Also, what do you guys think - should I start Polish thread? It might be quite unpopular, useless, I fear.

Niekoniecznie.

Translation: Not necessarily. Besides, someone might be learning and have some questions. Or will get interested and will start learning?

I love all different ways of language exchange, so I can't pass this tread !!

:uk: : Hello everyone! My name is Valeria, I live in Ekaterinburg, Russia :> At this moment (09 oct. 2016) I'm nineteen years old, I'm in my second year of Faculty of Dentistry Department of Prosthetics at Medical College. I was five years old when I started play on piano and now also mastered classic guitar and ukulele (although, acquired in a music school the initial musical education allows me play on any instrument somehow. harmonic sounds the same everywhere x) ). I'm a vegetarian. When I was 13-14 years I fall in love with Iceland, soooooo because of that love I began to read SSSS and now I write it here lol
I started learning English in kindergarten, then at school, and now it means that I learn that language more than 14 years ohmygodreally 8___8 But I still do a lot of mistakes because I'm not most diligent student XD

:iceland: : Sæl allir! Ég heiti Valerie, ég bý í Ekaterinburg, Rússland :> Ég er nítján ára gamall, grænmetisæta, getur spilað á píanó, gítar og ukulele. Í raun, ég skil betur en tala eða skrifa, afsakið fyrir það х) ! Ég þarf meiri æfa!

:finland: : Moi! Minä tietää 150 sanaa, wow!  :'D

I know my grammar sucks EVERYWHERE! So I would be very grateful if you find any mistakes and show me them <3

:uk: Hello! My name's Álex and I'm 20 years old, living in Spain. I'm studying Illustration and I want to one day make comic-making my career! I've been studying English since I was 5 years old, since it's a mandatory subject all through school here. Around five years ago I started doing almost everything in English - from being on english-heavy social media like tumblr to watching anime with english subtitles. I want to believe I'm fluent in it now, though I still make silly little mistakes every now and then. One day I'd like to move to Wales with my girlfriend and start learning Welsh!

:spain: ¡Hola! Me llamo Álex, tengo 20 años y vivo en España. Estudio Ilustración y algún día me gustaría dedicarme a hacer cómics.

trans. Hello all, a new friend has come! English is my native language, (but it) can't be used, so (I will) use a second language to introduce myself! (I've) already studied Chinese for over six years, although (I'm) really not fluent, (I) still want to show off my too-small-to-be-spoken-of ability.  Male, 23 years old, from America, now living in Beijing to study. That is to say, this year (I) graduated from college but didn't know what to do, so (I) decided to put off my "real future."  I cannot speak any other languages, just English and Mandarin, (so I) very much envy/admire (you) talented and multilingual comrades!  Owing to my gold-hair-jade-eye (an idiom indicating a typically Nordic look) appearance, when I write letters home I sign them "the red-headed barbarian", but here that does not appear appropriate. (I am) finished writing, I have already wasted too much study time.  Finally, (I'd) like to ask-ask (doubling a verb in Chinese makes it "cute"), how does one put those little flags that indicate languages at the bottom here?

For those wondering, in Chinese you can freely drop pronouns and conjunctions whenever you think the context allows-- note that there is no conjugation of verbs whatsoever in Chinese, so there isn't even a grammatically implied subject or object, just a contextually implied one.

Wow, I apparently use a lot more smilies when I write in informal Chinese, I never realized that until just now.   And I'm a lot more modest, in a way my American English speaking brain would never do.  Strange, that.

Yee, new people! (Though I'm a bit late to the party...) Hiya, heiteru, yaboku, and Redheaded Beijinger!

yaboku, I could actually understand basically the entire first half of your introduction in Spanish and then you went beyond how much I actually know... XD I am proud that I could understand that much, though.

Eee, welcome welcome Birgitte_! I'd never even heard of Igbo before now. It's nice that I got to learn something new, though. :)) If you want to introduce yourself in the main introduction thread you can head over there, or you can stay over here in the language board. It's not the most active now, but there's a lot of nice people here. :D
