Can I call a story about fire 'chilling'?  Nice one, Jitter!
Actually, I've spent some more time going back further, and looking at all of the flaming tributes to ya boi Emil.  Lovely, just lovely.

Oh what a magnificently heroic chin he has. And heroic everything, but the chin is the icing on the cake! And you are not late at all, the prompt week is still on, and a busy cleansing hero isn’t on top of the calendar anyways.

Thank you all for your comments on the story! I would not have made Grey’s friendly Loge burn Emil or Lalli, now would I? But they would have been in serious trouble, if the crops had burned.

I started writing thinking it will be an amusing scene where Emil is trying to eat and the food keeps going away. But then imagining it felt chilling (Wave it’s exactly the same word I would have used) so it turned into this.

That is one nasty dream...It is a good thing Lumi takes after Lalli and hs the presence of mind (and mage skill?), to know something was not correct.

Emil could not have magic, he is just blessed by the gods (well at least Loge)

Dmeck, Lumi is the biological daughter of Lalli and Inka, who is also a noita, so yes. She does take after them, and Ensi. Also I notice I confused my own timeline a bit, Lumi must be a teenager by now for Reynir to be living with Onni (she was already studying when that happened). So I guess they have younger children too, who require constant shepherding while swimming.

And I agree, Emil (probably?) doesn’t really have mage skill, but he’s very very keenly attuned with fire.

Then another about the babies being born.  I think Onni was in that one ( and really did not want to know details..I have to re-look them up...)  So your story fits.  (Lumi could be any age in the telling)

Emil turning out to have mage skill would be a hoot!

I think Jitter's point was that her Reynir spent a lot of time living in Iceland, and only moved to Finland late in life, by which point Lumi would be older.

Is there a prompt for next week (which starts tomorrow)?

Dmeck, yeah, there are several. The four of them deciding to try for a child, Emil bursting with excitement to tell (this is the one where Onni is begging for no details), one about Lumi’s birth. Oh, and one about the actual trying for a child, that one is on the mature side of things. I think the most recent one is in this thread under Hypocrite? Where Lumi is a teenager and Reynir has just recently come to Toivosaari to stay.

But the first time Lumi appeared to me is a short story about Onni and Reynir being old men and living in Iceland at the Spirit House. Lumi is the leader of Spirit Castle, which is in Finland. At the time of that story, it’s been peaceful in the east, but apparently this has not always been the case. I hope we’ll learn something about what has happened there, and prompted them to build a castle rather than another school.

To put it shortly, tehta is correct :)

So, what's the prompt?

If I were to propose one, I might propose 'art', since we were discussing it last week. And it's pretty open-ended: people could respond by making art, or by writing a story (or painting a picture) where someone produces art, or by having a team scavenge art in the Silent World...
Unless someone has more inspired ideas?

Thanks, dmeck and Jitter! I'm particularly happy with this Reynir. It took a lot of work, but he looks awesome (Of course the original model was very pretty, which helps a lot).
And I must confess that I've been waiting a long time for a reason to do this, because Reynir's hair always reminded me of this painting.

Really nice story, dmeck! Onni is matching perfectly his character here, from the start to the final grunt! :D
And I guess it's quite possible that his "6th sense" isn't as accurate as Lalli's. Onni seems to be much more powerful in the dreamworld, so just to balance things he might be less capable in the real one.
