He gives her a smile. "Army, two years, never deployed" he repeats. "It sucked."

"I see... I can imagine."

Huh, looks like she and the mechanic are the only people with no military-experience here. Charlie doesn´t know about Jay, but at least she still has a connection to the army through her father. Her mom had never had the time to explain how exactly she got her family the spots in the vault, but Charlie is starting to suspect that her father´s position might have had something to do with that.

Robin

Robin shuffles uncomfortably in place. Red Menace? That's a propaganda game. She doesn't comment on it, saying instead, "Pick the others too. The Pip-boy can play them. Might help in keeping people entertained later, and we can ditch them if they weight us down."

She gives them time to organize their belongings and moves to the door, positioning herself to enter the next room. "Right. Ready?" She rests her hand on the door handle.

Charlie notices Robin´s discomfort at the holotape´s sight. Wait, is something wrong? She looks at the cover again. Oh. OH. For the first time she conciously realizes the obvious political connotations of the game. She remembers Robin mentioning earlier that her home-country was annexed. Probably Canada? And Robin seems to be of some Asian heritage as well, she probably had to listen to a lot of racist bullshit throughout her life. And here Charlie is picking up the first propaganda-game she can find.

Now she feels very stupid. And very bad. Ok, she had been really young when she and her brother got the game originally, but now, today, after everything, she really should have realized. But she isn´t sure how to address it, so instead she piles the other games from the bin on her arm and nods a bit sheepishly at Robin´s request.

"Does somebody still have space in some bag? I can´t find another one", she asks the others.

Nine

Nine observes the exchange between Robin and Faust with interest, and nods approvingly when Faust offers the crowbar to Jay. It's quite evident that he wanted to keep it, but at least was rational enough to understand that holding a crowbar and a gun with both hands wasn't an option.

Calling him an idiot, on the other hand, was unwise. But the guy was lucky, no doubt. Had he insulted the 24 years old Nine he would be already on the ground with a broken arm, and the gun wouldn't be of any help. Twenty years of experience, however, thought him a few things. "Insulting each other won't help us to survive this, Faust. Eliminating threats in the most efficient way will."

He turns to Robin, that's just left the terminal. "He's right about the cover. As you advance keep your eyes open. Move from one cover to the next, if you can... but I suppose you already know that."

As Charlie struggles to hold a bunch of holotapes and the baton, Nine opens a side pocket on the bag. "I can carry them for you." Now all he can do is wait for Robin to open the next door.

Charlie smiles at Nine and loads the tapes into the bag.

"Thank you!"

She shortly considers putting the wrench in there too, but in the end decides to just keep it. If needed, she can just let one of her weapons go.

"Then I´d be ready to leave too."

Jay watches the exchange between everyone as they decide to move on, and sneaks a peek at the next room himself, waiting to go in but looking through the door as he waits for everyone to get a move on.

Robin

One might think Robin is hard of hearing for the way she failed to visibly react when Faust apologized. But she did hear him, and his words weighted on her hand that didn't immediately turn the handle, on the extra second she that took to step into the room. She was still annoyed, annoyed to the point she didn't notice Charlie's sudden quietness either. The way Faust treated her bothered her, but the way she treated him bothered her above all. He meant well. He's being sincere. She knows she's also not wrong and what she meant to say that moment, but the words that came tumbling out of her mouth didn't come out right as they often don't.

She sighs, her attention sharpening at the sight of the chaotic room. This is not the time to get distracted by such things or she'll really end up dead.

Robin steps aside, letting Jay—who had been looking over her shoulder—pass, and walks around the overturned beds and lockers, taking in the bullet holes on the walls. That explains the body bags. She gives the others a thumb up, letting them know she spotted no danger, then approaches a damaged wall. It started to crumble, sagging slightly forward. There's a small hole where it meets the ceiling. It doesn't look large enough for a radroach but it captures her attention all the same.

After momentarily fidgeting with the pip-boy, Robin turns on the flashlight function and pushes and climbs on the locker closest to the wall, pointing the light at the hole.

"Guys? I think it's a tunnel. Tiny tunnel."

Stepping in behind Robin, Jay looks around futher as he gets inside.

"I vote we stick something in front of the tiny tunnel so we don't get roach'd. Anyone want to help me shove a mattress up there?"

Jay pushes up the mattress and checks out the backpack underneath. "Magazine... comic books... weird gun, ammo, and a backpack for anyone that wants it. I'm not 100 percent on what these mods are, does a gun nerd want to come over here and check it out?"

Hmmmm... Faust is keeping watch on the entrance to the canteen, in case something comes when everyone's backs are turned. But they say they found a hole, but that door was closed. Could people 60 years ago miss those four creatures that attacked them? Or did roaches find a way to open and close doors as they went in and out of the vault?

Or, most likely option, there were in fact two entrances...

Whatever. He just hopes those guys don't raise their voices or something. He has no clue what attracts roaches. He doesn't like the idea of being overrun. Who knows how many of those things could be around...

Hmm... Grey didn't like to be called an idiot... Stored for future reference... No need to overreact to stuff, right. Faust was right, but he was being rude about it. He doesn't feel like apologizing for calling him stupid for teaching a kid to kill, but he doesn't feel like calling him stupid again either. They can probably talk it out or something.

...somehow he doubts that.

Nine

"What a mess!" Nine says as he enters the room. He notices with satisfaction that Faust stays by the door, covering their backs. Not stupid that guy, not at all. He feels that they may one day understand each other... If they live long enough.

He listens to Robin and Jay and points at the hole on the wall. "Yes, we better close that. Don't want a bunch of baby roaches on our backs. I'll help you." He moves toward Jay, but stops to look at his findings. "Fine, one more gun! And somebody added a few things to it. Give me a minute to take a look."
(PER) 1d10+6-5: 7

He observes the gun for a while and puts it back over the mattress when something else catches his attention. "Oh, this! I used to read this a few years... I mean, centuries, ago." He flips through the pages of the magazine and then back to the index. "Hum... Street Guns of Detroit... Sounds interesting." He spends a minute diagonally reading it, oblivious from the others movements.

"Those guys are... were nuts!" He shakes his head and looks at Jay. "Sorry, sorry, got distracted. I'll read it later. Let's deal with that hole! As for the gun, you found it, you carry it. Now it's just me and Charlie without a gun..." Nine looks at Charlie while he grabs a mattress. "Speaking of that, and hoping our friend Faust won't shoot me for asking, did you, miss, ever used a gun?" He than looks at Faust and raises an open hand. "Hold on. I'm not suggesting anything... yet. But you will surely agree that we should know."

Nine

"Hum... No, not really. But you did shoot me with your eyes when I was talking with Robin, just before calling me an idiot."

He handles the mattress, already folded, to Jay. "Don't worry, I understand you... I guess. We both want to protect them, each on our own way."

He holds the locker where Jay stands to push the mattress into the hole and turns to Faust. "Besides that, do you think I would give you a gun if i believed you would shoot me?"

He gives Faust a wry smile and turns again towards Jay.

Charlie lenses into the room. Hm, big chaos, more bullet-holes. But the others are already busy scavenging, so it seems to be relatively safe. She follows inside, but doesn´t yet dare approach Robin again. Instead she walks over to look at Jay´s findings.

Wait, didn´t she say that already? Ah, whatever, all their minds are still kinda fuzzy, perhaps she even just thought it to herself. She responds:

"Ehm no. I gotta admit I´ve never even held one. And to be honest, I´m not a big fan of guns in general...  so if we find another one, feel free to take it."

While Nine and Jay are fiddling with the mattress, she nods towards the things under the bed.

"But I could take the backpack if no one else wants it. I still need a place to put my wrench anyways."

After making sure the safety for the gun is on, Jay slips it into his bag along with the ammo. Then he goes to shove that mattress into the hole. No radroaches under his watch!

"You should take the bag. It'll be helpful in the long run," he says over his shoulder, grunting with effort to really get the mattress into the tunnel. "You know, this really isn't how I pictured surviving in the apocalypse. Although I guess the roaches are right on point."
