Mmmm today's wake-up music is Múm - Green Grass of Tunnel. I love this song; it has such a... cozy and sweet sound to it, yes.

Right, I'm going to be quite indulgent here and post a whole load of music. Feel free to skip or ignore :)

Here in Australia it's a yearly December ritual for the young and hip (or the embarrassingly old desperately trying to convince themselves they are still young and hip) to select their ten favourite songs of the year and vote in the Triple J Hottest 100. As one of the latter group, I have spent the last couple of weeks considering the music of 2015, and have come up with an objective* list of the 10 most best songs of the year. So I figured why not post them here and inflict my execrable musical taste on you all?

So in no particularly important order, here we go (with nice text links to avoid lengthening the page by about a billion percent)...

Bassically - Te Shi - A bit of a slow burner, but when it kicks in, wow!
Long Loud Hours - Urthboy featuring Bertie Blackman - I posted this one before. Aussie hip hop.
Flesh without Blood - Grimes - Grimes being all arty, the only copy of this on YouTube is a mini film featuring two different songs. Oh well.
Pedestrian at Best - Courtney Barnett - A bit like Dylan. A bit. Warning! Video clip contains clowns! shudder
The Love Within - Bloc Party - WUB WUB WUB WUB Wub Wub wub wub...
All the Day - Haerts - I love the rhythms in this! Also the band members met in Iceland, so you know it must be good!
Get Down - Jess Kent - Possibly the catchiest song of the year. Emoji overdrive!
Scud Books - Hudson Mohawke - For some reason the version on YouTube sounds like it's being played through a phone :(
Something to Tell You - Tom Lark - The video is the most hipster thing you'll ever see, but the song is great.
Love me Badder - Elliphant - Kind of like soul. Or something. Maybe.

So there you go. Enjoy! Or not as the case may be! :D

Courtney Barnett is brilliant and she's been getting a lot of notice here in the US as well.  Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit is on a lot of reviewers' lists for best of the year (and certainly one of my top albums of the year).
Keep an eye on me. I shimmer on horizons.

Think I might have posted this before but ehhh I was listening to it a lot recently so.
Passenger - Underwater Bride
(Three guesses as to why I had it on repeat....)

And then there is Passenger - Divers and Submarines which is amazing and beautifully illustrates such a mess of a relationship and ahhh I want to write something inspired by it (Not for this fandom, though. A different one).

I found her first single ("History Eraser" I think?) really annoying, but then I heard more of her stuff and got converted to a fan. She's pretty good!
