Toward the start of my undergrad I found myself on a kick where I was really liking music that had accordion/concertina or toy piano in it (like, the old toy pianos that have a whimsical bell-like sound to them like this one does) so I was pretty happy when I found this song that made good use of both :3 I actually ended up finding a retro toy piano in my friend's attic, and when I got excited about it they graciously let me keep it. Except I quickly figured out that toy pianos as cool as they sound are pretty underwhelming to play by them self, and I couldn't find anyone who wanted to jam with me on the toy piano =/ gee I wonder why

Hi! Time for me to express some of my tastes!! I really love soft electronica (although I can get down to a louder jam if it's good), but I guess I'm mostly one for indie and more folk-influenced stuff - I super love bands like Mother Mother and Garmana! I also enjoy  electro swing songs like Caravan Palace! But for the most part I like Mother Mother and ah, any kind of song you'd find from the Life is Strange soundtrack, heh - I'm kinda trash~ For the most part my interests and tastes are super varied, as I also can appreciate some 80s dance or techno with rap elements or such, but yeah! Some of my favorite songs include 'Oceans' by Seafret, which is a great song that brings real tears to my eyes, heh; 'Oh Ana' by Mother Mother, which, like most Mother Mother songs, is a little bit of a darker tune (one should be warned this before checking out any Mother Mother song, I think - They talk a lot about death, self-harm, dysphoria, corruption, edgy stuff like that although I swear to you! They're really great!) with an interesting melody and some very thought-invoking lyrics. I also like 'Infiniteismal', 'Verbatim', 'Little Pistol', and 'Bit by Bit', by the same aforementioned band (Mother Mother), if anyone wants to check those songs out (note that the warning with Oh Ana still stands with all these, really - not to mention a really iffy q-slur in Verbatim that I'm really not that okay with, ugh. But yeah;;!!) - AND OH!!! How could I forget Glass Animals!!!!! I LOVE Glass Animals! They do a lot of amazing stuff that really resonates with me!!! And their new album was like, JUST released! From their first album, I like 'Gooey' (which is a bit of a trippy song, I guess - very psychedelic, and I can appreciate that. And then there's 'Youth', which I love!
I survived the :chap11: break!!

One thing I love about Peter Gabriel's music is that it's so colorful. This song sounds rusty red-orange, with an extremely dry heat:

A swirling tornado of acid-green flame:

The music I listen to sometimes is very... different. My taste in music really varies with mood.

Fair warning: both of these songs cover some rather... er... crude subject matter that some may find upsetting. Listen at your own risk.

Dear Peter Gabriel. I do love your music most of the time. But please, please, do not try to be Weird Al. Because this?

Really doesn't measure up to this.

AHHHH YESSS Folk music is so good so great. I've been to my fair share of folk music festivals and they're always my favorite  :D good people show up at folk music festivals, always good company. And I'm REALLY HAPPY that you like dulcimers too oh man, talk about a beautiful and great instrument <3

Anyway, not dulcimer or folk related, but:

My enthusiasm for Homestuck itself may have died years ago, but my enthusiasm for the music from Homestuck never will. Andrew Hussie REALLY did right by the music, he actually hired in some pretty great and talented small scale indie composers (most of which primarily had experience in writing music for video games) not least of which was Toby Fox :3

But oh my god listen to that, this song wasn't even featured in the main story for homestuck but it's still one of my favorites that I keep going back to.

Not a big fan of the original "Summertime Sadness" - it just seems too mopey and... well... dead to me. But I'm really getting to like this cover:

It just sounds so much more... alive. It actually sounds like stormclouds to me. Man, I love it when metal bands cover otherwise bland songs and actually make them sound good.
