Idk what it is but I've been really feeling the key of d minor lately as in I've just been kinda drawn to a lot of pieces in d minor the past few days. Also I really like this piece, it's what made me fall in love with Schubert. Also I think the clarity of this recording is pretty outstanding and the Alban Berg quartett in general is just pretty bomb. I really admire how they can put a good amount of feeling into their playing without being too theatrical or melodramatic.

It's Triple J Hottest 100 time again, when aging fossils like myself desperately attempt to cling to some vestige of youth and relevance by voting for our 10 favourite songs of the year and then grumble and complain when none of them make the countdown!

So here's my list (in no particular order...)

Spoiler: show
Ali Barter - Girlie Bits
/>

Urthboy - Daughter Of The Light (Ft. Kira Puru)
(A song about Urthboy's mum. The lyrics are worth a read)
/>

Illy - Catch 22 (Ft. Anne-Marie)
/>

The Panics - Weatherman
/>

The Avalanches - Frankie Sinatra
/>

Hilltop Hoods - 1955 (Ft. Montaigne/Tom Thum)
/>

Miike Snow - Genghis Khan
/>

Sløtface - Take Me Dancing
/>

Urthboy - The Arrow (Ft. Timberwolf)
/>

The Preatures - I Know A Girl

I feel like a lot of you are probably familiar with the legend of the Erlking. Well, it just so happens that the composer I shared a piece from the other day, Schubert, also wrote this really neat piece about the Erlking, the lyrics being the famous poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (but as a warning a part of that poem could be interpreted as having some sketchy pedophilic implications  :(

Also I just really like the animation this is set to.

Anyway, usually I prefer operatic pieces in Romance languages rather than Germanic languages because I just feel like, it just works more and Romance languages usually feel more flowing to me while Germanic languages usually feel more choppy to me. But this is a piece that I really think works with being in a Germanic language and it just really fits it.
