well, yeah, that is one reason I am not planning to do both with same wig, I will be happy if I can style this one for Sigrun only!
it is, if I cut both, it will be more I guess, I need to get a proper cut, I cut only two bangs which was not part of the braid, and it already a lot and enough for the style, so I dunno what I will do with the braided part yet xD I need to get something to put it on and do the proper cut first, then styling, honestly I have no such thing like those warm thing you curl hair with.... (how it is called???) so I still try to do it first only with some spray... if not working, I will try to get one..... but I dunno if the wig can take the heat.... (I could test on the cut part lol)

Yes, definitely test before you put any heat to it. Otherwise you might end up with a melted wig!!  (And I think the things you were talking about are called curling irons. Hair curlers might work in addition to hairspray, though, if the wig can't take heat)

Huehue I feel the need and I indulged myself and I do not regret it at all. I highly recommend, 10/10

ALSO guys do you realize that I have closet cosplayed 5/6 of the main cast? Because I feel like that is an important thing to be stated. Because I've done it and I shall be Mikkel at some point too just for s***s and giggles.

*Is trying to imagine Curry as Mikkel* Please make this happen. I need to see this in real life.  ;D

(This is my first ever posting on this forum...forgive any awkwardness).
So I've been thinking for a while that it would be fun to attempt a Reynir cosplay if I ever end up going to a larger-scale convention. Now, I don't look much like him, but I do have an epic braid. So, question for the thread: has anyone ever done anything with temporary hair dyes for cosplay purposes? I can see that wigs seem to be the most popular route, but I'm sort of worried about fitting aforementioned epic-length hair under one. Then again, I'm also worried about how arduous a process it would be to dye so much hair.
For reference, this is the hair in question (I'm the one on the right):

Any thoughts? I would also have to figure out some way to approximate the floofy hair around his face, but color is my biggest concern at the moment.

Firstly, welcome to the forum!
Secondly, wow you are really pretty and I love your hair!
Thirdly, my sister who cosplays a bit has waist length curly hair that looks like Merida's from Brave. When she decided to cosplay as Merida last year what we did was bought a can of red hair spray and used that. It wasn't as long lasting or as hard to do as die, and it wasn't a wig. Then she was also able to just wash it out the next day. You could try that. Hopefully this helps some! :)

Wow hi, welcome to the forum!! So I'm pretty sure someone already mentioned this, but there are spray in hair dyes that you can try, however that would end up being pretty expensive for so much hair (especially if you're planning on cosplaying him multiple times), and there's a pretty good chance that it will look uneven and crusty. You could try mostly temporary leave-in dyes, but that is probably a bit more permanent than what you're looking for. You could also try hair chalk but I'm pretty sure that is only for small parts of hair.

If fitting all your hair under a wig is a worry, then worry not!! There are plenty of tutorials for cosplayers who have very thick, very long hair. One of my favorites can be found here, but really, it is only one of many! Honestly, using a wig is probably your best option (for the reasons mentioned above) and it will also ensure that you can do this cosplay as many times as you want without any struggles!

Good luck!!

Arda wigs is the absolute best wig store I have ever bought from and they are having a GIANT sale right now :D They have very thick-haired wigs with highly heat-resistant fibers and lots of styles and colors! My Sigrun is an Arda wig, actually. It's a Pippin in wine red if I remember correctly.

Epic Cosplay is another fine wig source, with very silky wigs also in a variety of lengths and colors. They aren't as thick, however, so not the best if you need hardcore anime hair styling.

You'll need to style pretty much anything you buy if you want it to be canon, and arda has lots of tutorials if you check out their website.

I wish I had a better version, but this will do: a sneak peek at the Flemeth cosplay. I still tweaked it a little after taking this photo (taking a photo of your cosplay is the best way of seeing what still needs fixing), tightened the vambraces, added some structure to the collar and re-shaped the front of the loincloth so that it won't lie over the armour. The armour takes a while to put on and I might need an assistant to help me, but once on it's surprisingly mobile! I was pleasantly surprised, one of my nightmares was that I couldn't move in it properly but I could probably skip rope in it if fancy took me that way.

Now to just... enjoy this beer I quite feel like I deserve. :P

Wowzers... That looks pretty much exactly like the albino devil picture you sent me weeks ago! I can see why you've been cursing rivets lately. It looks a bit drafty.

I wish I had your skills. Heck, even half of them would make me feel like an expert crafter.

How did you make the little horns on the wig? and and and WHATS THE ARMOR MADE OF I JUST

Answer to both questions is camping mattress. ;D The foam type, you warm it up and it takes any form you bend it to. Or you cut it into suitable pieces and glue them together. Or you cut long triangles out of it, roll them up and tie with string, glue some wig weft on them first, sew them on the actual wig, arrange the wig over the hair horns and wrap the whole thing up with the reddish pleather!

Wowzers... That looks pretty much exactly like the albino devil picture you sent me weeks ago! I can see why you've been cursing rivets lately. It looks a bit drafty.

I wish I had your skills. Heck, even half of them would make me feel like an expert crafter.

I can make a foam craft tutorial once I get back from Sweden, it's much easier than might seem at first glance, all you need is a little bit of inner engineer to think of how the parts go together. The outcome is soft, convincingly thick looking, light and can even take some amount of abuse before any damage occurs.

*cherishes hope of seeing Flemeth skipping rope*

If I find one I will see what I can do...  ;D

WOW that is amazing and very elaborate and WOW

Also fun to make (aside of the rivet hell). :D
