This time it isn't papercutting, surprisingly. I got a pair of plain white shoes a while ago because I wanted to draw on them. Today I decided on a "Starry Night" theme and went to town, and I'm really proud of how it turned out!

*_* Those are gorgeous! What a cool idea!
(Don't let me near those shoes, I might think of stealing them, heh heh)

Thank you everyone! I can't wait for the ink to set so I can wear them!

Ana, those shoes are very pretty! And I like how the picture flows across both shoes. Also useful idea for someone who has trouble telling left from right - a friend of mine does designs on shoes for her dyslexic child, so the kid can tell by the art which is which, without being embarrassed by having a big L and R.

I was thinking the same thing while making them! I had to double check that I was drawing on the right sides to begin with, since my grasp of left versus right has never been that great :P I've also hear of people cutting stickers in half and putting half in each shoe to help kids get it right. Easy and inconspicuous.

They really need TARDIS  ;)

...Good point. Tiny TARDIS it is, then!

Earrings for my friend's birthday.

It was really a challenge to make them, because I decided to use very small beads for the background. But my friend was happy to get them, so they worth the efforts.

These look great! Did you embroider the beads on something?

Arts and crafts thread, yay!  ;D So many talented (and patient) people here.

I found some leftover wire from and old project a few days ago, and since I was too lazy to find anything other than a pair of pliers, I just turned it into some wire earrings.

Actually, a lot of the time, I find a project but am too lazy to get the supplies, or too impatient to finish. I guess I'm just a lazy crafts person. XD I try.

I'm more of a sketchbook and pencils artist, but would any of these count as something fitting for this thread?

Well, here's my latest workshop project: Dual viking seax-style fighting knives!

Spoiler: heavy on images and text • show

Sad to say, I'm not doing it the "proper" way - I'm not really forging them from scratch. My brother bought a bar of metal for a knife he made (more of a shortsword, actually) and I'm using the leftovers. (O1 Carbon steel, these things will be very strong after I temper them!)

Here's an interesting infographic which I used as a reference when planning from this site.

First of all, I cut the 21'' long piece in half:

I marked out basically where the handle would go, then moved on. That step took a whole day (about 5+ hours of just sitting there with the saw blade grinding at this metal) and you can see I ended up with a little bit of heat damage on the tip there.

After that for a few months I didn't have much time to work on it, but I got back to it last weekend, carving one of the handles:

It started out as a big block of wood, which I first cut down to size, then started carving away at to get the general handle shape. It fits quite nicely in my hand, and I'm almost done now. Might stain it, but it'll most likely just be wrapped in leather when done.

I added some more details on the handle last night, and started grinding out the tang (decided on a tapered shape) earlier this evening. I'll post more photos as it goes along! :)
