AhAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHGGGGHHHHHhhhhh

You know how yesterday I mentioned that I needed to clean some chem residue off my clothes? Well, I put them in a pile on the laundry floor, (where dirty work clothes go) and went to make dinner while the washing machine washed another load of regular clothes. So I made dinner, and then decided I'd wash them in the morning so they wouldn't be sitting in the machine all night.
I wake up this morning, and GUESS WHAT.
My clothes on the floor were gone, and there was a suspiciously inconspicuous load of wet washing in the machine. *facepalm* So I go get a basket and start pulling the clothes out and there they are. Nestled in amongst a heap of other stuff.
>8C
SOMEONE *COUGH DAD COUGH* has picked them up and washed them with a load of regular clothes and towels. Great. A whole full basket of contaminated washing. Wowee.
I had to make phone calls to find out what to do. Turns out I just have to wash the clothes a few more times and then clean the machine, so it should be fine.

Should be fiiiiiiine.

o_x Oyyy what a headache. It's nice when people want to be helpful, but not when it's... not... helpful. At least it'll be an easy fix? Theoretically.

As of almost midnight tonight, I will have been on the forum for a year! \o/ Oh how time flies

Congrats on the anniversary! :D Time flies indeed, I just realized that the whole time I've been thinking I just joined the forum a few months ago but actually that's now more than half a year isn't it...

I've done something. And now I get swedish casino adds on all the sites I visit. Sites that have nothing to do with sweden or casinos. I am so confused.

I'm just getting baby ads and weight loss ads at the moment. It's like the internet has decided that I'm either pregnant or it's just fat, better try both.

(If the ads are based on internet behaviour I could at least make some sense of the baby ads since I always browse baby name pages for a long time before each NaNoWriMo, but nothing explains the weight loss ones.)

Viola and Laufey, that's hilarious. It almost makes me want to turn off adblock for a while to learn what my internet thinks about me. Almost. *shudder*

Oooo big news: the Christmas tree for Reykjavík has been chosen and felled this morning! As we have very few trees of this size of our own, Oslo lends a hand (hence the name "Oslo's Tree").

I imagine that my internet ads would be something similar, as I've spent a lof of time on those name websites trying to come up with names for all the people I put in my fanfics. Fortunately I use adblocking software, so I actually have no idea what the internet thinks I need...

Out of interest, do you have many trees at all in Iceland?

There are several small forests in Iceland but they are all young and small. Forestry only started in Iceland around 1900 and before that there were hardly any trees left in the country (maybe a couple of small forests and some trees around, it wasn't completely barren). Trees grow just fine in Iceland and there used to be a lot of trees here around the year 1000 but they were basically all used up.  :-\

Nowadays it's considered that Iceland never had much by trees; around the settlement era there were some, but even then the most typical tree type that grew in Iceland was dwarf birch. What few forests there were were chopped up fairly fast, which is why even during the settlement Icelanders had to import timber from - heh - Norway.

Today I Learned:
- that here in America there are people that are now using "flushable wipes" instead of toilet paper for wiping themselves after a trip to the potty. WAT? WAAAAT!?
Somehow the media has convinced everyone that your bum is going to smell aweful (without you even realizing it), and everyone is going to hate you and your icky gross bum  ??? .
THE WORSE PART:
THEY DON'T DISOLVE IN WATER.
THEY. DON'T. DISOLLLVVVE!
Our sewer workers are having to spend millions of dollars to try to clean out blockages in our cities' pipes due to cooking oil and wipes getting stuck together. THE BLOCKAGES ARE HUGE. In London they had to remove one that was the SIZE OF A CITY BUS.
A BUS GUYS.
A BUS!

Sooooo, this has been a PSA about the harmful effects of flushing wipes. Sorry if this seems like a rant. Check out dis here video for some more info (it's fun AND educational!  :)) )

Aargh, I've been searching for military records for reference concerning a story I'm writing, but haven't been able to find any examples of, say, troop deployment statistics and the like. Anybody have any idea where I could find things like that? Also, what do you think the chances are that I'm now on a government watch list?

I can't answer any of your other questions, but chances are you were already on some kind of government watch list. It's not difficult to get onto such a list. But there are so many people like you on the list it probably won't affect your life at all.

This is the first time I even hear of these wipes but if toilet paper's not enough wouldn't washing with a bidet shower after tp do the thing?
(The flushable golf balls were my favourite btw.)

It probably would, but the problem is that you can't really find bidets in the US. I don't know about anyone else, but I've never even seen one in the US.
