christmas soda and freia easter egg are delicious holiday treats that us here in norway go completely bonkers for, but because of that the stores start selling them wayyy early and half the population think it's Wrong and Heretic to eat/drink them before their respective times. norwegian blood feuds

AS FOR TASTE i dont even know how to describe christmas soda apart from "delicious"?? it's just. different from all the other sodas

Iceland also has Christmas soda, which for some reason is a mix of two other sodas, Malt and Appelsin. It's sold pre-blended or you can blend it yourself. It's not to my taste though, orange soda with a beer-y side flavour. :P

Is Norwegian Christmas soda similar to julmust?
(because that's usually available In the Known storE for All swedish stuff)

Same here. They had them out at the end of September. I was just like !? Why.
(Now, the moment they put out the chocolate-covered marzipan logs that they always have for Christmas, then we'll talk...)

Well, somewhat similar but not identic. Julmust has malt in it IIRC.

All this talk of Christmas soda made me think of the Kentucky tradition of drinking Mint Juleps on derby day. You won't find them any other time of year.

I feel you.

Those fruit cakes though are kind of like egg nog - it feels unnatural to eat them outside of a very specific time frame.

While I could have chocolate covered marzipan logs all year.

Aaaaa now I wish my family had more food traditions for holidays ;_____; I'm.... so hungry and festive for the wrONG SEASON thank you guys

It doesn't help that Florida weather feels and looks the same pretty much year-round so I get a serious case of season confusion. Alas.
