Guuyysss really bad news coming from DeviantART! I don't know if you guys know a website named Wallpart but it's stealing AGAIN our art. But not only in dA, also in tumblr, twitter, etc.
I actually don't know what are we going to do to stop this but I just spread the word!

Okay, a quick google search tells me that it's in fact a scam to collect your information through the copyright violation form - some elaborate setup for a phishing scam, basically. I'm not sure what you can do to take your art down but don't issue a complaint on the wallpart website itself.

Don't file a complaint on wallpart.com because they'll steal your personal information :0 (name, address, phone number, etc etc etc) they're just pretending to be a real business (that happens to be stealing your pictures) to get you to give them all your information by filling out a copyright complaint form on the wallpart website itself.

So, they basically want my information by stealing my drawings to get my copyright? Well, that's bullcrap. If they really think they can be a real business then their doing it wrong. I think we are going to start again with the sign thingie?? Last time we got 2,000 signs and they deleted all. Maybe we'll do that again or just report them??

Aaand that is why I always sign my work, even if I'm too lazy to always watermark it.

That aside, if anyone DOES see any of my (or any artist that you know) work used in a way and/or by people that you're pretty sure I don't want/haven't given permission for, please tell me about it so that I can contact people or issue a DMCA notice if needed.

They don't think they can be a real business because they're /not/ a real business. They're just pretending to look like a real business as part of the scam. I also did a quick google search and I found this post on the subject, and apparently there isn't even proof that they're even actually selling the prints (like who is there who's actually bought or tried to buy a print from there).
TBH, I don't think it's the biggest threat in the world and the real problem is with filling out the violation form on their site, because that's how they steal information from people. I'm guessing that that's the whole point of the site - to claim to sell art they don't have the copyright for, causing people to report them for copyright violation, and then taking information from those people.

aaaaaaaaaaand torucon is over. for now. everything went so smooth and it was so great, I'm sad it's over but also utterly drained from this weekend. today i saw ONE steven universe cosplayer (pearl!), an amazing W.I.T.C.H. group, and an equally amazing Mad Max: Fury Road group. there was some drama this morning when some dude went and picked the treasure hunt coins before the con started, but it got sorted out quickly enough!! the selfie hunt and the ball pit kept being the most popular activities I think.

I managed to go almost all weekend without buying a single thing, but at the end I kinda. binge-shopped. woops.
