Yeah, looking at Google Maps I could bus to the city (with three hours and $15) and stay for two and a half hours and then bus back (with another three hours and $15). And this is all assuming I'd have Saturdays off. We'll see. And then there's also the whole factor of young woman+alone+San Francisco which I don't think anything WOULD happen but what if it DID.
In case anyone from overseas is wondering, we don't have effective mass transit here in the U.S. because socialism. And although I failed to get the memo explaining why, Socialism = Bad. Texas Senator
Ted Cruz says so.
Anyway, San Francisco alone is really not that big a deal despite the occasional horror story; it's gentrified a lot over the years. Other than a few neighborhoods (which locals are happy to warn you about), it's at least as safe as Austin.
But you needn't visit S.F. alone unless you want to -- not when Minnions are on the case! I live within a 30-minute drive or commuter train ride of downtown and would be happy to keep you company.
Plus, several others of us actually live and/or work in the city and can probably provide more up-to-date recommendations about whatever "the youth" are doing these days. Amity is particularly well-equipped to scare off bad elements; as those of us who attended last month's Meet-Up can attest, he looks quite intimidating (while being the total opposite).
Off to Califor-ny-aye!
