The entire modern human world, from chairs to shelves to getting into truck seats, appears to have been designed both by and for people significantly taller than me. I'm seriously considering finding a folding stool of some sort to carry around with me.
If any of them have to go down in my basement, though, I get my revenge. This house was built in 1896, and has since acquired assorted pipes that bring the effective height down there even lower. I can stand upright down there, but most people can't.
let's see -- a bit under 5'2" is a bit under 62 inches which, says my calculator, is about 157 centimeters. Which, when this house was built, wasn't particularly short. But it is now; almost everybody I meet who's over 12 but younger than their 70's is taller than me. And some of the under-12's and a lot of the over-70's are, too. And yes, my sleeves and pant legs are both rolled up. But I like it down here, mostly. When I was a child I wanted to stop at 5' even, and was disappointed when I didn't.
