I have successfully put a harness on a cat. I managed it with minimal bloodletting, but I'm not sure the cat will ever forgive me.

They do get used to it. Motorbike gloves are good, the first few times.

I tried to give mine some antibiotics for an abscess a while ago with no success, so I applaud your cat wrangling skills!

Oh, those hats. We don't really have any of them in my house, so I am prone to forgetting about them. (except for the pilgrim salt and pepper shakers but hey evidently you can't be American and do thanksgiving without hats hiding somewhere)

Yeah I don't reckon there is a lot of puritans left around.

Only marketable versions of them remain.

Fun fact: turns out pilgrims didn't actually have those silly buckles on their hats.

Just had the insurance assessors come by to check out our storm-damaged roof, ceiling and hall carpet. Now we wait to see what they say.

Thanks, mate! The guy seemed fairly sensible, and said that if his head office approves his recommendation that they pay out, a builder will ring me in the next few days. Now we just have to wait on head office, hope they actually do their job, and hope we don't get more storms before the roof is watertight again. Because if we do I reckon the ceiling will fall in rather than just sagging ominously as at present. I don't want to get up in the roof myself, both because I'm more than a little decrepit these years, and because the builder has way better safety gear. Fingers crossed!

So I wasn't entirely sure how student/teacher communication worked with online schools (I was hoping it was nonexistent), but evidently I am not doing whatever I was supposed to be doing, since I now am under 'alarm' and I have to talk to someone tomorrow. Greeeat.

Most of the online schools I know require you to email in assignments and progress reports of what you are doing, and to update your teacher(s) by email, occasionally by phone, about what you are doing. Also to do online questions/tests and send in your answers, write essays and such. What does your school want from you?

I've been doing all of that with the exception of talking to them on the phone. Email doesn't bother me, nor does talking in person really, but I hate the phone. So I'm slightly annoyed that they're making such a big deal over it.
