I think Mélusine is still around Paris. As for P and the others, I don't have news yet. Let's wait...

Edit:  just sent a PM to the French forum members I know - but I don't know everybody, and all those I know are not forum members.

I just learned about the attack with your PM. I hadn't read the news yet. I'm safe in Normandy, and Mélusine is now in Amsterdam. I don't know about the others, but at least they don't live anywhere near Nice.

I'm sorry, but what relevance does military alliance have here? Human lives have been lost. Would you be less sad if they weren't your "allies"? This way of thinking is part of the problem...

I remember...
I lived near Cannes, some 20 years ago. Summer is the fireworks season, there. Because of tourists, because of the 14th of July, and also because of the celebration of Liberation, at the end of August 1944. The fireworks are shot from barges on the sea. That's safer, and produces amazing sceneries.

Thank you for checking up on everyone FrogEater. It means the world to know that at least some people I'm worried about are safe, although my heart breaks for everyone else. The world is so much smaller now, and we mourn together for the horrific things human beings are capable of doing to each other, today in France, but also in the so many other places where hateful attacks are carried out day after day. I wish that someday we will no longer need to mourn so, but for now I wish for your country to heal kindly. Please stay safe all.

Sorry, I had no computer and hadn't tried to have an access to internet between the 13th and this morning. As Troposphère, I learned this news with messages and some things my friends put on their fb pages. I'm relieved that my brother (the same for who I was really, really worried about when we had this attack in November) hadn't to go back to Nice again, because a few months ago he was still traveling between the two cities...
For what I knew, P__ was going to/in Venice at the beginning of the week, so he wasn't with us during our parisian meet-up with Wolfie. And I assume Rollo was on the chat recently ?
... Well. I think group hug will be needed.
