AC in one room, fans in a couple of others. Oddly the coolest room is the northwest facing one, which here is the side with hottest afternoon sun, because the porch on that side is swamped by a huge tangle of grapevines: an old German sultana, a White Muscatel and a Black Muscatel. I had intended to cut them back this spring for easier harvesting of the grapes, but didn't get to it, and now I'm glad I didn't! Of course, in about three weeks I shall have to wriggle through the wild jungly growth to pick grapes, and this winter I really should cut them back and rescue my porch furniture and potted cacti, all currently buried in the tangle! On the other hand, it's lizard paradise, and the skinks and geckos are breeding madly in there.
We'll survive, it's just very unpleasant for cold-climate people, which both of us are. We're remembering to wear hats outside, and drink lots of water.
