I think I got safe zone citizen, and by the time Sunny created this thread to celebrate it a week later, I was getting my scout promotion...  ::) Before that Sunny sent out promotion celebration PMs, but a few of us were getting them too fast for her to keep up.

Wow, yes! At least this time I spotted the promotion while it was happening rather than being a month behind the fair! Thank you, everyone!

Airport hmm....can I have Giles? If the place isn't claimed already? It's an airstrip rather than an airport as such, but there's radio in the Gentlemens' Club, and murals painted by Len Beadell himself. I have been in a plane that landed on the airstrip/driveway, which was a little alarming because kangaroos. At least it wasn't camels!

Derelict enough it certainly is, when I was last there the population was 5, but I believe it is now down to 3. Giles is the most isolated community in Australia, and one of my favourite places in the world. And it has what's left of a Blue Streak rocket in the yard. Woomera used to land them in the desert. Wonderful place.
