Happy anniversaries, admiralities, and other promotions, everyone :> It's cool and somewhat strange to see people that I thought of as new being here quite some time.

At the same time, I've realised I completely missed mine, too. Three years already. Strange to think of.

And to you also, Mélusine! Which city will you choose? I'm tossing up between Adelaide (nearest city to where I live), Ballarat (regional city in Victoria with a lot of history and excellent gold-rush architecture, not to mention being the town where Lola Montez horsewhipped the editor of the local paper down the main street), and Melbourne, which also has architecture, lots of fascinating underground tunnels, and one of the best libraries in the world). I'll have to think about this!

It did feel a bit that way, didn't it?

I've decided to claim Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, Australia. I shall set up my administrative centre in the great reading room under the dome of the State Library (I think that site is suitably steampunkish) and proceed to clear the city. I'm sure there will be plenty of possums to recruit! Next stop: the Botanic Gardens!
