Fighting Evermore, Along The Rocky Shore

One monster swipes,
The other one shunts.
Headhunting snipes,
And the crashing brunt.

Barrelling, fumbling,
Battling furthermore.
Down the cliff tumbling
In an attritional war.

Back to the odd couple,
The two not-friend guys.
After the family huddle,
And the dialogue of demise.

Once again it's lights out,
Back to the dream land still.
The mage greets the scout.
You can see, he's thrilled...
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Say What You Have  To Say, We Must Away

Lalli away from the crowd,
He said what he had to.
Not saying things aloud,
Leaving, he's glad to.

While the others immersed
In their kindred discourse,
The swan cuts through, terse,
In time pressure forced.

The moments are soon up, so
Make farewells and partings.
Stating "It's time to go.",
And spreading out its wings.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

A Peck On The Nose, Be Ready When They Go

A parting kiss
By the little sprite
She'll be missed
By her brother alright.

Bowing his head,
He can hardly bear.
The wings spread,
Taking to the air.

A bittersweet sting,
Final moments shared
One final thing.
Calling "Oy!" down there.

"Yeah?" Reynir asks,
"Be ready." It directs.
What is their task,
What's gonna be next?

Boom, Suddenly Smoke, For The Still Dreaming Folks

"You need to be quick
To get out!" It says.
Before it clicks, they're
Knocked from their daze.

Suddenly a boom, slick
Water rises to their waist.
Smoke blanketing thick,
The three still dream-spaced.

Interrupting, an eruption,
A fire and smoke taste.
They'll awaken abruptly,
And have to make haste.

Steamed Hams, Palm Slammed

The stirred and shaken
Group rousing in unison.
The mage trio awaken
To scene of combustion.

Smoke pours into the chamber
Of sealed refrigeration.
Watching afar, their neigbours,
Guilty of wanton detonations.

The Swede full of 'told-you-so's',
Some ideas were ill-advising.
Can Mikkel come over and, you know,
Do a little bit of smoke-diving?

Meanwhile in the outdoors,
Still battling, the two Kaiju.
Bloodied, slashed and sore,
As wounds and fractures accrue.

The contention in the lake,
A palm slammed into the face.
It's a war, make no mistake,
It'll be the final resting place.

Escaped to Denmark to freely roam

Page 515-516 I guess

It Never Rains by Dire Straits (with a few changes)

I hear the seven deadly sins
And the terrible twins came to call on you
The bigger they are mage
The harder they fall on you

And you you're always the same you persevere
On the same old hunting ground
Oh and it never rains around here
It just comes pouring down

You didn't just volunteer
So you got profiteers luring Tuuri out
With friends like that mage
Good friends you could do without

And then they've taken the reins and disappeared
Off to a faraway town
Oh and it never rains around here
It just comes pouring down

And your young protégé
Was just a hair too late when he let you down
See the younger they are mage
The younger they get when they go down

Leaving you in pain and the tears
When they drown
Yes and it never rains around here
It just comes pouring down

Oh you were just a mercurial memory
I don't know why I let you join the crew
I saw you making a date with destiny
When I saw you as a glowing birdy flying through

In the shadow of the real misfortune
We're busy hunting round Saimaa lake
For days we slay the Kade, yeah that may be true
But I'd be lying if I said I made no mistakes

See you could have been trained as defenders
I never wanted money or fame
We're on the list of all the major offenders
I couldn't assist and that's my major heartache

The swan's just swimming in the shadows
Yes and you sleep in your eternal night
Oh I can still hear you say as clear as the day
'I want to go and see the sights'

Ah but it's a sad reminder
When your spirit finder has to return to aid
And all you've got to go on
Is the promise of your soul instead

Yes and that's all that remains of the years
Spent doing the rounds
And it never rains around here
Well it just comes pouring down

Now you know what they say about mages
You can't complain about the rules
You know what they say about mages
You know who's the first to call a fool

You never were alarmed about what you kicked up
Until they came and bit you on the arm
You were happy on over on the way up
Because you thought that you would never bite the farm

And taking us back in a silent world valley
With the smoke up smothering our dreams
And we're reaching the bitter finale
On the waking to a terrible scene
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

You Can't Leave Whenever, Go In Peace? Never!

Unclear who's stronger,
But Surma wades away.
Remaining no longer,
It's unwilling to play.

It tires of the fighting,
Turns its back completely,
To find a cave to hide in.
But mama bites the retreating.

Its limb clamping savagely,
To hold the killer troll back.
She won't let go so easily,
No choice but to attack.

Until death comes this grip,
They will never make peace.
Slashing across, talons whip,
To get mother bear to release.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

The Souls Flying Free To Mould A New Calamity

The previous swat
Leaves the bear slumped.
Mother's rage for naught,
Surma effortlessly trumped.

But now comes a rush,
Light streaks through trees.
To the ursine crushed,
Streaming souls sundry.

-------------------------------

Pg 519

They Enter The Cracks To Bring Something Back

The soul-eyes gaze
At the dying matriarch,
Before they stream ablaze
To give another spark.

To each other the team
Of eye-balls conspire.
They flood into the seams,
The body crackles afire.

Pg 520

Bear's Eyes Re-glow, No, You Cannot Go

Teeming with lights
Illuminating the flesh.
Bringing a new lease of life
By making it hella fresh.

As they energise bright
The bear's eyes glow anew.
Don't retreat from this fight,
You thought it was through?

Escaped to Denmark to freely roam

Cataclysmic Event, Bitten Reinforced Cement

Full of eldritch energy,
Multiplying in size.
She lunges at the enemy,
With fire in her eyes.

Charged with surpernal forces,
Burning deadly with hate.
Ethereal flames scorching,
Surma bracing too late.

Menacing the menacer,
Dwarfing conflagrant.
Like demons possessed her,
Bites vengeance's agent.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red

Surma In Upheaval, Now The Lesser Of Evils

With a colossal flip, Surma,
Goes impromptu bathing.
Cast away by the bear ma,
Now a paltry plaything.

Flipping uncontrollable,
Against fury now no match.
Minnow of stone and muscle,
Rising hence with a slash.

It emerges to the surface.
Then almost immediately,
Landing mother ursus,
Crunching indiscriminately.
A man left his Icelandic home
Escaped to Denmark to freely roam
With hair braided red
He got hit on the head
With a crate lid slammed onto his dome

Surma Hard Pressed, Now Powerless

The mass of muscle press,
With Surma under, submerged.
Its long arms now helpless
Versus the ursine in its purge.

Crushed, just making splashes,
Drowning by the embodied.
The concluding thrashes
Mark the end of the war indeed.

Death coming swiftly,
For the one nicknamed Death.
The bear with souls of fifty
Suffocates it out of breath.

Stepping off the shallow-drowned,
Still burning, bright, ghostly.
What next for the bear now?
Doom to roam alone, well mostly...?

Leaving The Vessel, Scores To Be Settled

Under no illusions,
Momentarily necessitous.
At battle's conclusion,
The soul orbs exit thus.

They float and stare,
Spirit eyes out gathered.
An almost familiar air,
With the bear shattered.

Soaring off with streaks
As the mama watches lonely on.
Tired, bloody and weak,
Yet still forging a new dawn.

Endures the mother obsessed,
Persisting, greatly impaired.
Before she can go and rest,
There's a matter to be squared...

Speaking Of Her, She Appears, Hold On To Your Rears

The hunters and mages newly woke,
Scampering out closed-eyes.
Clearing from the smoke in
The building exploderised,

"We're done!" sayeth the capitan,
They have to get out of there quick.
Before either bear or claw hands
Shows up again, in their conflict.

Just then the Swede points out,
Silently, there, to the leader.
The monster mother stout,
At a distance of mere metres!

Petrified, quiet withdrawal
In the face of the bear mum.
So gang, just hug the wall,
And tightly pucker up your bums.

Just A Sniff, Mildly Miffed

The bloodied bear mum
Sniffs at the group so witless.
Other than growling at them,
She shows no signs to agress.

She turns away in apathy,
Up the stairs into the room.
Back to the scene, unhappily,
Where her rug child met its doom.

Pg 527

Let's Sneak Away, He Leaves Her In Dismay

The mother bear's despair,
Affliction and pain.
She picks up slivers, pared
And shredded child's remains.

She heads to the deep woods
With the tatters in her muzzle.
Sigrun suggests that they should
Sneak away all quiet and subtle.

But just then the cat man hustles,
Rushes towards the escaping bear.
His movements leave her puzzled,
And almost pulling out her hair.

Pg 528

To The Remnants Tend, An Accelerated End

Carry the flesh remnants,
Towards the other corpse.
At both dead dependents,
Driven by utter will's force.

She lays down the tatters
Beside the skinless dead child.
A funerary howl and shatter!
Mortal form decompiled.

Cracked open, degenerated
At the sites of the spears.
With the great threat eliminated,
Nothing left to hold her here.

Bear Mother Disappears, Just Bare Husk And Spears

The scout thin and tall
Can't help but follow.
Away the head falls
To reveal it's all hollow.

Nothing but fleshy shell
And javelins criss-crossed.
Where the mother bear fell,
They are all at a loss.

All's well that ends well,
Nothing more need be done.
There's no point now to dwell.
Another campfire, going the sun.

Why Bears Get Reincarnated? He Doesn't Rate It

Three by the fire,
And three by the corpses.
The Swede inquires
Why he has to restore it.

Even non-infected bears
He would not like to meet.
Lalli ignores his cares
His ritual still incomplete.

He meticulously cleans
Every scrap, speck and decay.
Until he finishes his routine
And souls sent safely away.
