I don't even know why I made that (oh wait actually I know - my job is just terribly boring). Pixel art isn't my strong side, but it was fun, and I could easily do it with a mouse and didn't have to drag my graphic tablet around :D

Meanwhile i was really tempted to put cringy ugandan knuckles up there in your sketch with "I'll show you da wae out" text. even hair color would match

So, Knuckles the Echidna is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He looks like this...



A while back a YouTuber did a video review of an old Sonic game and for no apparent reason briefly featured a squat, distorted version of Knuckles in it.

Knuckles appears around 1 minute 49 seconds

Then also for no apparent reason a 3D modeller made a 3D model of this version of Knuckles and made it freely available.



There things might have rested except for the release of the game VRChat, which allows players to interact with each other in a virtual world using 3D avatars. Again for no apparent reason a bunch of people downloaded the Knuckles avatar, and started flooding into VRChat, repeating lines inspired by an African movie named Who Killed Captain Alex? in a bad Ugandan accent, chiefly...

"Do you no dee wae?"
"Dis is not dee wae"
"You do not no dee wae"
"Where is dee queen?"
"Spit on him brothers!"

And variations thereof.

The plague of Ugandan Knuckles has since spread across the internet at large, and we are all the poorer for it ;D
