Indeed, there are many shades of cadmium red, yellow, and orange. I may or may not have dunked several of them in my tea. (I mean, tea is kinda dull orange, so... Hard to tell.)

That's not going to work. I think I need one that says POSSIBLY CADMIUM in (cadmium?) red letters.
Do not forget copper and mercury.

As I visited my parents in the last weeks I wanted to share the drawings I made in this time.

I made 4 Paris themed ATCs

The last three are just van Gogh fanart.

I tried to draw a butterfly to distract my two year old niece.

And my nice then used my supplies to make her first watercolor painting.

She does mix some nice colors. And she did paint concentrated for two hours that is quite long for a two year old. My mum and I hope she has inherited the paintery gene.

Moredhel, your drawings are great! And I agree about your niece! Great colours, and spending two hours doing any one thing is remarkable!

Speaking as the mother of an artistic child who started making music, drawing and painting as soon as he could hold the implements, it certainly looks as if she has! Art and music run in my family but the art gene skipped me and came out in my kids. She seems promising.

I see the mouse!

Now those are really nice, Moredhel! I particularly like your version of the "Starry Night Over the Rhone".

(And looking for the original reminded me that Van Gogh has two famous starry night paintings!)

As for your niece, two hours is a very long time for someone so young, therefore she probably enjoyed it a lot! I think those genes are there!

(my girl liked painting and drawing, but wouldn't be doing it for so long)

I see a mouse, a fox and a monitor lizard. My wife sees a owl but that is clearly the shoulder of the lizard

I think I see the mouse, if it’s blue-gray and looks to the right? But mostly I see a red dragon (head).

I see all the different shades, so it is hard for me to discern shapes.  I love all the colors though

Those are some lovely concept drawings, MintheTea! I´ll be looking foreward to the story! (I especially love the one in the beginning with Juha´s creepy shadow!)

And some equally lovely Paris/Van Gogh-inspired art, moredhel! And I´m glad your niece also has fun painting! There´s a remarkable amount of paint on the paper and not anywhere else (sorry, I just can´t help but remembering back to my first painting-attempts as a toddler which were apparently... rather messy :P :'D)

dmeck, that is a great idea. :'D Only thing to make them perfect would be to make them different colors, or I´d mix them up whenever I don´t fully look up...

I´ll be in Italy for the next two weeks, which means I won´t be here most likely, though that doesn´t really change anything, I´ve been lurking for a while now... :-[ But NEVERTHELESS! Have some art before I leave:
I painted this for my mom on mothersday (never got around to posting it...), as I gifted her a (from my current point of view) an absolutely ugly squirrel-drawing years ago for a birthday and she found it recently and put it up on the fridge. I cringed every time I walked past and decided to make a better one as soon as the opportunity arises.  :V
So here it is! Painted with watercolors.

(please excuse the phone-reflection on it, I had to photograph it after it was already framed as the water twisted the paper too much)
supposedly studying, most likely drawing…

Mirasol,
Very beautiful.  I love the curiosity in its face.  Squirrels in the Eastern US are not as pretty.
