I'm surprised and really happy so many of you like this unicorn O: thank you <3
i realized in hindsight i made a MISTAKE (the limbs should by the Rule Of Celtic Knotwork go over-under-over-etc and that one leg is going OVER two times in a row!! WAAH) but i'm trying not to let that colour my opinion of it too much
you'll know where to find me.

WELL
my inspiration is from, everywhere I guess? I just really really like unicorns like deep within my soul because the concept of them really resonates with me, and I draw them a lot and I'm really bored by the idea that unicorns are often thought of as 'just a horse with a horn tacked on' because they're not. so my thing is to draw unicorns both different and more true to the "source material", except there is no real "source material" re: unicorns, mostly just... mentionings in different instances, old myths that can be linked to the more recent myth about unicorns, medieval tapestries and so on. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the original stories and illustrations and stuff' haha^^"

This unicorn in particular is based on the way beasts are drawn in the Book of Kells, so you can say that's where I get my inspiration from in this instance. but otherwise I usually base my unicorns on other animals than horses, like different types of deer or moose or giraffes or even camels. just doing unicorns in different shapessss

Re-appearing from the back of the thread. What I meant when I said 'source material' is like classical depictions of the beast. Like, on a British coat of arms or on a carving or doodled in the margins of some illuminated texts. The mentioning, is what I meant, I think.
Your passion for unicorns is truly inspiring.

I also just realised you're wearing glasses in your avatar and your eyes are not actually square

more CD sketches ^ ^ This time for my best friend's webcomic project, which she asked me to be the artist for. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, Here's a half-Filipina character of hers + accidentally super-white draft and final colors
