I'm reading The end right now, and the alt-text-saga is literally my favorite part of the comic. So much that I pay more attention to it than the actual story.

The alt-text in The End really confuses me, because I normally don't check it and I am used to alt-text relating to the comic strip.  So now I know it is a separate story at least.

It has been brought to my attention that some people have not yet been privy to learn of the most amazing, most wonderful, and most magnificent webcomic that is Romantically Apocalyptic.

Thus I have taken it upon myself to become its ambassador for precisely one week.

It is about a post-apocalyptic world populated by zee Kaptein and loyal minions Pilot and Snippy. There is also a Mr. Kittyhawk. And a scientist. And red balloons. And travelling back in time (sort of). Also an organism known as the Biomatrix. Aliens appear. Explosions occur. Zee mug is a Very Important Thing. Straws. Beautiful green thing.

It was also my Very First Webcomic Ever, and the first post-apocalyptic story of any type that I actually liked. That might make me slightly biased, but man, it is a good comic. And extremely unique. Give it a go if your interest is piqued? Art style is digital painting + photos with very deliberate use of colour. Also note that some pages have text journal entries (+ audio, too, sometimes) that add to the story (or do they?). There is also a really brilliant companion soundtrack which you can listen to on Bandcamp.

Trial of the sun !!!  (http://trialofthesun.com/)

I can not recommend reading this one enough!

Summary (from tvtropes.org):

Long ago, when the world was divided, a war was waged in the names of gods. From that conflict, several nations of man were united by the Goddess Amari. From the blood of Enorans, one of the human races, the Goddess created the Elves, the Kipira, and the Lamiak, and through their covenant with the Goddess, the Saltblood Barrier was erected. It was an unsurpassable defense—no enemy could cross the threshold of Saltblood and live—and so the newly founded Anocura knew a peace that would last for generations.

Just so long as the Elves continue to hold vigil over the Ark, of course.

It’s now the early 600’s. Racial tensions formed in the early days of cultural assimilation have not abated. Eliano Davrey, a fourteen year old Sworn Maiden from a respectable family, is considering joining a training phalanx. Unexpectedly, the Goddess Amari, who normally hibernates for years at a time, arrives in Saltrust. That night a close friend of Eli brings him news that there’s been a riot in the smith’s quarter, and that his father and uncle have been gravely injured…

It is usually updated twice a week (lately three times a week).

The author of Trial of the sun is also the creator of Miamaska (http://miamaska.com/) which has already been mentioned in this discussion. Also a really great story (updated once per week).

Trial of the Sun looks pretty cool and its also nice to see some more love for Miamaska.

I have recently read Antihero for Hire, Daughter of the Lilies and Hunters of Salamanstra.  AFH is a very snarky superhero comic set in the future after Canada has used their army of dinosaurs to conquer the northern United States, so yeah pretty different.  The other two are pretty generic fantasy settings but have good art and likeable characters.

I recommend...

Johnny Wander: Scott Pilgrim meets slice of life. Awesome and quite seriously one of the most hilarious comics I've read in some time. (Recommended in a thread I put up before I knew this one existed)

http://www.johnnywander.com

Skullkickers: Low fantasy, black humor, disembodied body parts, bald gunslinger and... Stuff? Magic stuff! Funny but not for the squeemish (it may be comic but still makes you cringe a bit). Beautiful art though... Dem monsters...

http://comic.skullkickers.com

Strong Female Protagonist: Interesting. This is what would really go down if the X-men were real. Real problems and questions pondered by very engaging characters some of whom have superpowers. Cannot recommend this enough.

http://strongfemaleprotagonist.com/issue-1/page-0/

Property of Hate: Alice in Wonderland except the white rabbit is replaced with a British gentleman (self proclaimed monster) with a TV for a head. Clever, very clever comic as it has a knack of bringing emotions and concepts literally to life (fear? It's a butterfly. An idea? It's a dog.) Updates more regularly now that the artist's hand seems to have stabilized.

I strongly recommend Lackadaisy
Link: http://lackadaisycats.com/index.php
This wonderfully drawn story takes place in St.Louis during the Prohibition. It follows the staff of the very illegal and not very profitable Lackadaisy speakeasy. It has action and humour, and it's very historical. Well, except for one tiny detail: everyone is a cat.

Alice and the nightmare is a really good one! It has some elements of the alice in wonderland book, and it is super interesting!

And I would read anything with cats in it!! Cats are so adorable, I will definitely check lackadaisy out :)

I'm placing this here, because technically this is a webcomic, since it is only appearing on Facebook (you don't need a FB account to see it), but I thought it was important for all good Minnions to hear this news: Bloom County is back!! Yep! Opus, Binkley, Milo, Oliver Wendell Jones, Cutter John, Steve Dallas, even the anxiety closet! They're all back! So sit down in the dandelion patch and enjoy the best comic that ever lived: https://www.facebook.com/berkeleybreathed/photos/a.114529165244512.10815.108793262484769/1004028256294594/?type=1&theater For those Minnions who are too young to remember the original Bloom County; go ask your parents. It was wonderful, and still is.

Oh joy unbridled!  "Bloom County" was one of the delights of my youth (especially when I was a reporter at a country newspaper not unlike the one Milo worked at).

Thanks for spreading the news, Ceceoh!

All right, so here's all the webcomics I'm reading/have read thus far:

Broodhollow, http://broodhollow.chainsawsuit.com/ - A cute comic punctuated by psychological and supernatural horror. Funny, adorable, terrifying. One of my favorites.
Awkward Zombie, http://awkwardzombie.com/ - Hilarious comic strips that make me feel better about filling my head with useless gaming trivia.
The Boy Who Fell, http://www.boywhofell.com/index.php?id=434 - Fantasy adventure with very manga-esque art that's improved immensely since creation.
Saint for Rent, http://www.saintforrent.com/ - A quirky time travel adventure with beautiful art, action, and humor.
Nameless and the Scientist, http://nameless.ameizhao.com/ - I'm still not sure what the story is or what the characters are, but holy dragonballs it's pretty. Maybe check in again later.
RockPaperCynic, http://www.rockpapercynic.com/ - Cynical nerdy humor. Occasionally crass, but it still amuses me immensely.
Sfeer Theory, http://www.sfeertheory.com/ - sci-fi/fantasy story with a neat setting and main character. Still a little early in development.
Mare Internum, http://www.marecomic.com/ - sci-fi comic about Mars. Really small so far, but the art is great, it has deliciously dark humor and it will develop tense survival scenes.

Whew! Well that's about it, besides SSSS obviously. I'll be looking back over everyone else's suggestions now.

*raises thread from a month's hibernation*

You should all take a look at Catalist. It's a sort of multimedia, animated webcomic/visual novel/other things with gorgeous art and character designs in a sprawling fantasy world. It also stars cats, which makes it even better, though so far it's still rather new/short. Not to mention several of my favorite artists worked on it/are currently illustrating it...

Seconded. Catalist is beautiful! It's in intermission right now, but there's... 15-16 episodes up? And don't forget to play the music for that episode while you're reading! c:
