Tuulikki Hotakainen - seen in flashback of those fateful events on Toivosaari in Y79 - the memory of her squishy endearments is a little embarrassing for Lalli


Veeti Hollola - seen as a normal kid during Y0, enjoying TV and video games, but growing up during the early years of the Rash gave him the experience to become a military strategist.  His daughter Taru became one as well.

Neither of them had an easy life! But then, the same goes for everyone from Y0D0 onwards. Well, everyone outside of Iceland at any rate.

I love this flashback to Tuulikki because it shows us the love and affection Lalli had as a wee one.

I think even the Islanders had it rough, given the famine they had to get through because of their limited land for food production.
The siege of Novgorod during WWII comes to mind.

I know this one is a toughie, because we didn't really get to see either engaged in their everyday activities. 
Like many fans, I have my headcanon about Veeti, and even wrote one for Tuulikki, back when she was no more than a face on the family tree.

And then we get a pic of Tuulikki doing exactly what the majority of the fans would like to do, and, well...

Buteo, Iclelanders definitely had a few bad decades from Y0 onwards. But by Y90 I think there are some whose life is comfortable and safe. Whereas in the other countries, there’s much more danger and uncertainty.

Oh, yes - after the famine bottleneck, Iceland seems to have settled into a settled, if vigilant, safety.

I considered Bosse the dog, Bosse the cat and the two other prologue cats, but a) the category was pretty big already and b) they did not affect the story the way Magnus and Voff did.

Similarly, many animals could have showed up in the minor characters or m0nSTeRs category (Mama cat RIP, immune deer, weird ugly moose, dolphins, air fish, Hilja's pet rat(?), Hiisi's other moose, Poodile, lake cows, wolf pack, sundry nibbly sheep...), it would just be too bloated if I'd included them all!

Considering the plot of SSSS, it would be very ironic if we'd run into a problem due to lack of (efficiency in) elimination ...
