SSSS Forum Re-read - SCHEDULE
« on: April 02, 2022, 05:06:07 AM »
This thread will include the reading schedule, meaning which section we intend to read, and focus the discussion on, which week. Discussion about the schedule and how to divide the arcs and weeks should go to the planning thread, so that finding the schedule here is easy.

This reread will assume everyone has read already at least once, so there are NO spoiler warnings. Discussion may include any references to future events. The schedule is to help us keep the discussion going, but you are of course welcome to participate in the discussions even if you are reading with a different timing, or not at all at this time.

Note that the Info Pages are included in the weekly reading chunks, but have their own discussion thread.

The schedule seems to be getting too fast with the numbers of comments for pages growing. Should we make the sections shorter or have two weeks for each bit?

Also I’d like to encourage everyone who is re-reading faster to just discuss any point of the story as they wish! The schedule is just to help coincide people on the same pages. Currently we have ongoing discussion in two to three threads and it works well!

Do you suppose it would be helpful to open all of the threads so anyone wanting to make a comment has a thread ready and waiting? I know someone commented early about reading faster, who was that? @thorny was it you? Anyways if you are reading this and the “scheduled pace” is too slow, please let me know how to help stimulate discussion?

I don't think it was me, though I'm not sure. I think the scheduled pace is about right, given that I try to read at least a page of the comments; but I don't think any given pace will be right for everybody.

I do think it's good to have the older sections continue to have active threads, both for slower readers and for anyone who comes along later, even years later, and wants to talk about them; and I've been reading those also, because someone may easily have noticed something interesting that we didn't discuss on the original schedule. But I think maybe opening threads for everything from our current very early section all the way to the end of the comic would be too much all at once -- I won't be upset if outvoted on that though.

I do agree that people should be able to mention pages we haven't gotten to yet, so we can talk about foreshadowing and/or inconsistencies as we notice them.

I agree with thorny that having all the threads open now would be confusing. (I already keep forgetting which thread I am commenting in.)
I think I can keep up with this pace, but would be fine with going slower, too.

I updated chapter 4 into the schedule. The dreamworld sequence with Handsy Moose is a bit on the longish side, should it be divided in two?

It divides pretty well into first just getting to Dreamworld and then meeting some others there, so I made it two weeks.

Updated the schedule and inverted it to show the current one on the top. I made the chunks a bit longer now because there are sooo many comments that it's impossible read them all. I'll keep adding chunks later.

Updated Chapter 6, which features The Crate, into the schedule. It’s so short that I only made it two parts.

There’s not much discussion about Chapter 6 (for example none from me) but let’s start the year with Chapter 7, which brings new discoveries to some of the team members

Sorry for my absence for a while! I have now updated the schedule. The rest of March and April will take us all the way into Amalienborg in central Copenhagen. With interesting developments on the way!

BTW if the schedule runs to its end and I’m for some reason updating ir, anyone can add more weeks and sections. If you are not a mod, you can’t modify the opening post, in which case just add the new weeks as reply!

Heya, I'd like to join in on this reread (yes, I've read the entire comic before, though I haven't read aRTD yet), but I can't figure out when we're supposed to read which parts. I see that the comic has been divided into sections, but I don't really understand the date formatting. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance!

It's Euro formatting, where they put the day before the month and use periods instead of slashes.

Here's the Chapter 8 schedule with US-style dates in red as an example:
Chapter 8 (but see rest of Chp 7 below first)
No more (this) sad dog after this 364-370 - 27.3.-2.4. 3/27 - 4/2
Snowstorm 371-380 - 3.-9.4. 4/3 - 4/9
We don’t make mistakes 381-390 - 10.-16.4 4/10 - 4/16
Scouting and magic 391-401 - 17.-23.4. 4/17 - 4/23
Towards Amalienborg 402-412 - 24.-30.4. 4/24 - 4/30

Does that help?

Thanks! Yes, that does help. I was confused because it doesn't include a number for the year, and some don't include a number for the month. Thanks again @LooNEY_DAC!
