You seriously want me to dwelve in the intricate courtship/mating strategies of their race? Be careful on what you wish! What if they evolved from something like praying mantis?

<3 :) :) <3

<3 :V :P <3

<3 O:-) __ <3

So courtship gets my vote too! ;D

Then she would bite his head off and there will be no more stories.   :-[   . Plus it would so ruin the mood

I got the feeling they were ant-like or termite like.  They could also be spider like, or bee and wasp-like (I was thinking segmented insects. )

But some I had listed would be queen cultures, and your story would not really fit would that culture.

I googled Segmentation and there are all kinds of critters.  Earthworms?  Mice? (That one surprised me!)

(Maybe some spiders.  Not black widow.  (She would be like a mantis) Other spiders, mason bees)

Or because they advanced so much they do not do hives any longer?  Or a different species all together?  who says they have to be earth-like?

Fate gives all of us three teachers, three friends, three enemies, and three great loves in our lives. But these twelve are always disguised, and we never know which one is which until we've loved them, left them, or fought them.

Yeah, that could set the mood a bit down...

And maybe on an advanced species the whole biting-off-your-husband-head-and-devouring-him is slightly frowned upon... perhaps out of fashion?

But on the other hand I would finally finish a multi-story arc! :D

I'll think about it. As for their aspect I'm thinking on something like the Talagosi from a sun-type star on the small magellan... oops, I'm not supposed to share that kind of info. Sorry

That zoomed by me, so ...no secrets were divulged

The segments and tail had me thinking something scorpion-like, but really it would be extremely unlikely for an alien race to closely resemble any Earth creature. It’s also extremely hard to think about something completely unlike any Earth creature :)

BTW there’s an excellent AU story on AO3 with a strangely alien Reynir. I’ll post a link if I can find it, unfortunately I don’t remember the name or the author.

Here it is! Read and enjoy: https://archiveofourown.org/works/19007542/chapters/45138382

Oh, haha, I remember that story! It was quite funny - although the worldbuilding made me really curious about how that particular planet worked.

So just to be clear, the prompt for this week is indeed courtship

I think the third chapter of my ongoing Reynni/Emilalli story counts for 'courtship'. There's a whole singles party in it!

Dmeck, I thought your Onni already had a soulmate (with the same luonto)? But this was a sweet fun read. Hotakainen courtships, heh/

He does, but that is a whole different story arc.  ( I am having trouble getting it written, so anything is fair game.  :onni: Onni has so much angst, he is fun to write about, in all kinds of compromising situations...)

This is just different fluff :)

Regarding what you just said about Emil...

Spoiler: show
I don't think Sigrun's words should be taken 100% seriously. She was exaggerating as usual. Anyway, this Emil isn't trying to play people. He likes it when people find him attractive, and doesn't need to catch feelings to enjoy hooking up with someone. And he doesn't think about those other people's feelings much, because he is too insecure to believe that people could develop meaningful feelings for him. If he found that they did, he'd feel awful. Well, a bit gratified too, but mostly just horribly guilty.
