I chickened out of posting because I am going through a period of hating everything I paint. But, in the spirit of my snowbird life, here is a small (12cm by 8cm) sketch of a beach I am going to swim at later today.



It's usually very peaceful, but right now there are lots of waves because of the cyclone that just passed us.

Making these I was reminded how utterly toxic many of the so called inspirational quotes are. Especially the fitness ones!

Oh wow Jitter, what a great idea!

After looking through them all, I have decided that Reynir is a great model for sensible quotes. While the Hotakainens are generally terrible. (I do love your take on 'no pain no gain', but Lalli is not a great role model in this instance.)

I am too obsessed with current world events to focus, but here, have just two cliches:

"You want the truth?" Mikkel signed. "You can't handle the truth, Emil. Trust me on this."

“I can! You know I can! I am a grown man who has looked giants in the eye and lived. I am not afraid of anything my father might say or do! I am just… curious… as to why the two of you are corresponding.”

“All right, then. If you insist.” Mikkel took a deep breath. “I met your mother while working in Sweden, as an underage apprentice tree surgeon. Our company did quite a lot of pruning on your parents’ estate, and she was always so welcoming, offering us lemonade, and, well… It would appear that the rest of your family recently found out.”

“Found out what?”

"Look." Mikkel handed Emil the letter. "I am your father."


(Cliches come from 'A Few Good Men' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'. I wanted to work in 'Casablanca's Here's looking at you, kid, too, but I ran out of inspiration.)

Hahaa, I’m glad you liked them :) I spent a lot longer than warranted on this, because when I was looking for good images to include everyone, I kept coming across more and more that I just had to use. And as you know, there is NO dearth of the so called inspirationa quotes, when you go looking.

I wasn’t consciously trying to make all of the workout ones on trolls, but mow I notice I have, with the exception of No pain, no gain. That and the Home is where the heart is were the ones I thought of first, and then it escalated just a little,

YES - I was going to suggest that. These are perfect and I so appreciate you making them.
While I agree that some of these quotes are toxic, I grant you 'rule of funny'.  I lost it at 'Champions train, losers complain', I really did. 
'Be the Change...' was actually really pertinent, not just funny, as was Kaunoinen.
